ADPi & Chi Phi on GMA, Saturday am!

Press Release:

Alpha Delta Pi at UNC Chapel Hill to appear on Good Morning America

Atlanta, Ga. — Alpha Delta Pi sorority at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will appear on Good Morning America this Saturday, September 20. Good Morning America is currently airing a “50 States in 50 Days Train Tour”, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the only university in the tour. The Dean of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Jenny Levering, chose Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Chi Phi fraternity to represent the Greek community and UNC at Chapel Hill as a whole on the show.

Alpha Delta Pi will be participating in two events while GMA is on campus. First is a Fraternity/Sorority “Iron Chef” competition, in which members will be filmed at their chapter house creating a dish for the competition.

The second event is a Game Day Kick-Off for the UNC at Chapel Hill vs. Virginia Tech football game at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. During this event, the dishes created by each group will be judged by the four co-hosts of GMA and the UNC Mascot.

Alpha Delta Pi is honored to be chosen to represent Greek life at UNC on Good Morning America.

Didn't they do a 50 states in 50 days tour a few years back? I don't know if that was on a train. They did come to Lexington as their Virginia stop and filmed their segment on the W&L campus. A bunch of people, most from GLOs, came out to rep their groups that day. I got on TV with a bunch of my chapter sisters, all holding Pi Phi signs.

Ironically the segment had nothing to do with W&L - it was just on campus. They filmed and interviewed some dudes "mountain boarding" (it's a combination of surfing/skateboarding/mountain biking) on campus (they tore up the lawn)! And they had a segment on making apple butter that I think the student body president might have participated in.

The mountain board thing irked a lot of people because it had so little to do with W&L and was actually something W&L people kind of mocked. But hey, we still got on TV.

I posted this here because anytime greeks get positive PR, it's a good thing. "No matter what the letter, we're all greeks together."

Unfortunately, my market/cable provider doesn't get GMA.

I saw GMA this morning. It was very cute and both groups came off really well. ADPi had their wooden letters behind their table and it looked good. ADPi won the competition, as the school mascot choose their dish!

I am sad I missed it! I know Kate Snow is a Theta, but I don't know if any of the other anchors are Greek.

You can see the clip on the GMA website. It's on the front page today, but will be available in archives after today. The girls did a great job.

Thank you! I was sulking yesterday, knowing it was on, but couldn't see it!

ETA: It was a cute idea - I think both ADPi and Chi Phi came off well. I wish they had worn bigger letters, but hey, I wasn't in charge of wardrobe. Gotta wonder about selecting a winner by whether or not a goat would eat it, though!

Rameses is a ram, a sheep, not a goat. And a bad ass one at that.
