We don't. We had a pledge*now a sister* who had her eyebrow pierced, I am sure the little old ladies at the nursing home were a little surprised but it wasn't an issue with us. This sister ended up being Chapter President. We also had some girls w/ pierced tongues, belly buttons, not sure about nose piercings (don't think so), a few had 1-2 tattos (little ones) but no wild things

I know in my chapter also, it was almost becoming a trend to have your tongue pierced. Also many many girls have eyebrows, noses, and belly buttons pierced. Also I know myself I have lots of piercings in my ears. And tattoos are fairly common too...usually ancles, shoulders, or lower back.

My chapter has girls with all sorts of things. Lacey has a eyebrow ring. A number of us have tatoos (including me!) which are mostly on our lower backs, tons of girls have their bellybuttons pierced and there are a few tongue rings too. But it's far from looking like a night out at a biker bar....

I love piercings, and have about 12 right now, including tongue, belly button, and an industrial (a barbell through two hole in my ear cartalidge) My chapter has no problem with them at all, and only asks that girls with piercings other than ears take them out for recruitment and such.

As an active I was practically a minority because I didn't have a tatoo or piercings (other than ear). I was going to get my belly button pierced along with my roommate. But a couple weeks prior to the big day I decided I really did not want one. But I was still really excited to go w/ her and hold her hand when she got hers.
During recruitment we were asked to just keep the piercings to a minimum and to not play with them. When it came to any jewelry those rules applied. Alums were known to confisicate jewelry if a girl started fidling with it. Absent minded figiting is a big concern. Hair had to be pulled back for the same reason.

My chapter doesn't have problems with "body modifications". We've got ears pierced, belly buttons, tongues, and eyebrows. We are tattoo-aholics so practically everyone has at least one.
In another organization on campus I know that one girl has her nipples pierced, everybody knows, nobody cares.
And in another organization on campus there is a girl that has tattoos and piercings from practically head-to-toe. She is the best to hang out with...she is so much fun and she is extremely intelligent!
We don't make girls take jewelry out during recruitment. We are who we are, if you don't like us because someone has a piercing you don't like then oh well, your loss.

I really don't see how anyone could have a problem with "Body modifications" unless it was incredibly extreme. For one, we are all individuals and do have a right to do to our bodies what we wish. Also, it is so commonplace now that the majority of people on college campuses, at least up north, have at least one piercing.
My house has always been full of pierced and tattooed people. No, we're not talking tattoes over 80% of the body, but one or two tasteful ones here or there. And piercing has never been an issue, actually probably almost everyone in my house has some sort of piercing aside from ears. One of our sisters is actually a body piercer, and we all get a "Kappa Delta Discount" at the studio where she works.
We're also not the only house that's like this, our campus in general is very pierced. It's extremelly socially acceptable up here.
I personally only have my belly button pierced and ears, of course. No tattoes, not my thing. But i have no problem with people who want to.

just an incidental.
my senior year in HS, a friend of mine got her belly button pierced and they told her it might bleed some after she left, well she did....for 13 hours! through 5+ thick medical bandages that she had...i saw her in the 11th hour and so we tried for an hour to convince her to go to the hospital which she eventually did....dumb girl.....it was somewhat funny too because I would guess she weighed around 85-90 pounds (a tiny girl), so that much blood had to have been really REALLY bad for her to have lost.
and further into the incidental, I've no piercing/tatoos

Is your 2nd one hanging off the tip of your tongue? If it is, did that hurt more than the regular way?
