Question Spring Rush

So, I'm a rush chairman for my fraternity's Spring Rush. IT seems like every house on my campus including mine does the sam old tired rush events. I'd really like to have some events that not only perspective members are interested in, but ones that my brothers will get excited about too. So I'm asking for people to offer some examples of what they do at there school to get guys in the spring.

Talking

So what events do ya'll do now?

At my school popular ones with the fraternities and the sororities are:
--hypnotist night
--game night (pool, batting cages, football...)
--dinner at a restaurant (anything from Friday's to Hooters)
--casino night (fake $ of course )
--Margaritaville (virgin)
--BBQ
--luau/beach party (any excuse to bust out Tiki torches!)
--Mardi Gras
--work in an upcoming holiday (ex: Chinese New Year in January--The year of the Dragon is about to end, if this ties into your fraternity use it! ie Betas I'm not sure what the next year is but it should be fairly easy to find out.)
--anything based on some famous alumni (ex: SK and Sig Ep have been known to use a Dr. Seuss theme. Especially popular at my school cause our library is named after him! )

--plus any of the more PC exchange/mixer themes can easily be converted into a rush party!

Cool

Those ideas are pretty good guys. What exactly would we get the hypnotist to do since i think brainwashing rushees is not legal. In the past we've gone to the school bowling alley, or gone as a group to watch our school play basketball. They worked ok, but I'm looking for something that's more than OK. Also my school is in Illinois, so it's going to be like 20 degrees out, so I need something that's indoors, and exciting enough to get guys out of there dorms when its cold and snowing. So any more suggestions would always be appreciated.

I agree that it's a lot tougher for spring rush, because there are fewer activities you can do given the weather.

Maybe you can have a rush event (or just invite a group of rushees out) at a sports bar-and-grill-type of place, on a big sports night for a hockey game or college basketball games. If nothing else, it's a change of scenery, and a place where both the brothers and the rushees can kick back and relax.

Hey I found out that Chinese New Year starts Wednesday! I think it's definitely a worthwhile excuse to throw a party. The year of the dragon is ending and the year of the SNAKE is beginning. Since just about every GLO w/ Sigma in its name uses this as a symbol, plenty of people can use it for a rush/party theme.

On a side note--Anyone born in the Year of Snake easily kicks A!!!
