Many fraternities and sororities were founded on religious principles. This does not mean that you have to be a member of that religion to join. In my sorority, Phi Mu, there are references to God in places such as our creed but if you are not religious, you may choose not to say that part. There are also some sororities such as Phi Sigma Sigma, that were founded as non-denominational groups. (Someone correct me if I am wrong)

Question

Forito, I have read many of your posts but have yet to figure out what you want!

You ask many, many inane questions about inane things!

What is your deal?

Tom -

I think she's just trying to find out about Greek Life - and it seems to me she's been very intelligent and mature about it! Actually, she reminds me of ME when I was in high school... I never knew anyone who was greek, so I'm sure I asked a lot of "inane" questions when I first found out about it too!

Tom,

We all want intelligent ppl like her in Greek Life. And the only way to know is by asking questions. I personally applaud her for asking so many questions.

Phi Sigma Sigma was founded as one of the first non-sectarian sororities. I was always told that we were the first, but I've seen other sororities claim the same thing, so I'm not really sure. However, most of our founders were Jewish, but they did not discriminate against non-Jews.

Tom,

She's in 9th grade and asking appropriate questions. Its really not cool to call them inane. She's trying to educate herself and I find that wonderful.
