Stop Bathroom Grafitti!
My Question is.... Why to our collegians (i know alumnae wouldn't do this... WOULD THEY?) Insist on adding their letters to bathroom grafitti? I hate going into a stall and seeing KD on the wall! (I live in a town with two chapters )
How does everyone else feel? and is it something we should add to NMEd? ya know.. add it to the list of things not to do while wearing letters?
That's just my opinion,
Emilie

Agreed. Why would you want your letters in such a place anyway?
In the final analysis, grafitti is simple vandalism. In another way (although some of it is pretty funny), it is an invasion of privacy.
And few places should be more private.

I've never seen letter on a bathroom wall, but in class, letters are written all over the desks and on the back of chairs. I can say I am guilty of doing this once, but only because I was bored in my Philosophy class and needed something to keep me entertained. But never in a bathroom stall!

I've seen a lot of bathrooms in bars graffitied with letters and wondered why on earth these girls would want to display their letters there. I think when I was pledging, this topic was brought up and it just seemed like common sense to not take part in this. I guess some people get overzealous when it comes to displaying their letters...plus it doesn't help if it's a bar and they're not thinking straight.

People writing their letters on desks became such a problem in college that all greeks were informed that we would be sent a bill for vandalism removal if the trend continued.

Thank you! I can't believe people would even vandalize, much less bring their letters into it.

This is HUGE at my alma mater. In one bar in particular, it has become such a tradition that the Delta Chi's have their CREST painted on the wall! It's not so much in the bathrooms, I don't think, but moreso on the bricks of the wall of the bar

Yeah, at one of our dive bars there are letters and names written all over the walls and tables. The bartender throws you a marker and then it's time to represent. The Greek grafitti actually serves as decoration.

That sounds pretty neat -- and, since the owners approve -- it's not really vandalism.

Amongst all the bathroom stall vandalism at UBC (and there are many, many bathrooms at UBC) I have never seen anyone's letters amongst the grafitti.
