Exclamation who has a great relationship?

I was wondering, with many schools represented on the board, who has a great relationship with their administration? (I did a search. If I missed this thread, please let me know.) Not just individual chapters, but what schools go out of their way to promote and praise Greek life in general?

Maybe you can help the rest of us with ideas. Thanks in advance .

My school has been trying to dispel its image as a totally commuter school. Part of what the school has done is promote Greek Life. They can't afford a fraternity rowe or anything, but the school is definitely pro-greek.

Were a total commuter school as well and I have no idea what events here would be like with out Greek involvement. We rarely get the recognition that we should but they are putting up a Greek row for fall 2003 with townhouse style rental properties and land that can be bought for houses there will also be a apartment style housing for Greek overflow.

Kevlar that's awesome. My commuter school...I doubt they'd ever think of it. I think we get money from the university, but that's about it. Our UMall (student union type thing) is being renovated and is behind like a year. We have nowhere to hang out, cept the trailorpark they put up which no one wants to hang out in. They even tried to put some video games in there. Nice try. Anyway, EVERYONE's classes are pretty much in the new CASL building that was just opened before they closed the UMall. One problem...they are doin whatever necessary to make it so people dont hang out in there. You can only rent a booth for a certain amount of days a semester (like 4 days or something) which sux for COB, they took out all the folding chairs and tables. The only people who really hang out on campus are the Greeks, and we're the only ones who keep tryin to hang out in that building, plus our meetings are there Monday nites. They tried to kick us out of that too. So basically, besides money, I'd say they're not too appreciative of Greeks.

WOW!
I go to a commuter school and like Kevlar said i have NO IDEA what our school would be like without greek life...

everything done on campus is done by greeks all the campus events are done by greeks...we are definitly a pro greek school..

our greek advisors are really nice and really do their best to get all the greeks involved...

like most others FIU is moving away from the "commuter school" image...
we are getting our football team this fall (YAY PANTHERS!)

they are building fraternity houses...FIJI has theirs already, and PIKE, SAM, and TKE have all broke ground for theirs to be built soon...

they just added a new housing dorm...really nice! and 2 new buildings including a new architecture building, and a new administration building...

I WISH sororities would get houses...but we have been trying for a while and so far it hasnt passed vote yet...we wouldnt get houses but we would get suites, but so far financially it has not been possible for all the sororities on campus so we all cant get if one doesnt... one of those all of nothing concepts...

but the family like atmosphere and great community makes going to school LOTS of fun...

take a look at FIU's website for greeks... www.fiu.edu/~greeks
in MHO FIU is a really well kept secret..alot of people dont know about it..but its a GREAT choice for anyone who wants to live in miami and doesnt want to pay private school prices!!

so to all those people out there who dont know...University of Miami is NOT the only choice for schools in MIAMI
TRY Florida International University!! FIU!!

just the small schools?

Thanks for everyone's reply.

From what I read, are the commuter schools the only one with Greek support? My school is fairly large (35,000+). Are there any Greeks at some of the big schools that are really supported by the administration? This really sad if there aren't.

Small schools I think realize our value more than larger schools. While we do requier a higher amount of resources to support than the average student associations the return on the school's investment is FAR greater!

We are training the leaders of student government, the leaders of clubs. We are running homecoming and other special events around school. WE are the people that bring a small campus together. We are the identity of the school.

In larger schools I think greek life gets lost in the mix with everything else. It's a lot of big fish in a big pond so to speak.

But for smaller schools they really only have us to turn to when they want to mobilize the student body and remind them that school is good for more than classes!

i go to penn state. the admin as well as our newspaper are totally not for the greeks at all. and for having one of the largest greek systems in the country i think it's absolutely ridiculous. the only time we get positive recognition is for our dance marathon. last year we raised over 3.6 million dollars for the hershey medical center. that's not small change and i hate the way our president is trying to get rid of us anyway he can.

I go to a University with about 10.000 students that is not a commuter school and the administration is very accepting of the Greek community, in no way do they look down on us. The newspaper is pretty anti-Greek for the most part. They usually dig for stories that make Greeks look bad.

When I was there my school seemed very accepting. There were always those though who had it in their heads that we were evil and tried to focus on that. it seemed the school paper focused on the bad things that occured with greek members but even those stories were few. I dont think we got the recognition we deserved, but then who does??
