New A Phi Alum in Oklahoma
Hey all! I just graduated from the University of Colorado and got transplanted with my fiance in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma. Is anyone around here??? I know there is alumnae chapters in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, but those are both over 2 hours away! I am very not used to being away from sisters for so long!

Hello!! I am soo sorry to hear you are ar away from your sisters. I can relate. When I first moved to RI from Ohio...I felt lost. In Ohio I was a rush avisor and part of an alum group and RI had nothing, no collegiate chapter and no alum chapter either.
However, I was persistent and got involved on the regional level then URI opened for expansion and I was their colony supervisor. Now there is both a chapter and an alum group here!
I suggest contacting the Executive Office 847-475-0663 and leave a voice mail for Linda Boland (dir of collegiate dept) I will also look up the number for the RM in your area. Get in touch and volunteer for a project within the region. You don't have to live near a chapter to be involved!
Also even though you live ar from the alum chapter don't forget to pay your International dues to EO!!
Welcome to greekchat!
AOE

I am in McAlester OK. Big big change from Boulder and Denver. We are only here for 18 months though, so its not too bad. Then we (most likely) get transferred to Houston. I have emailed the Houston alumni chapter. They are so nice, and also involved in alot! I just keep repeating "Its only 18 months" over and over...

Yeah keep saying that to yoruself!!!!!
I can't say Mcalester is bad but i can't say it is the greatest! and it is only 18 months. have you contacted the OKC area alumnae chapter? I am not a sister ( yet?!?!?!) but in Oklahoma ppl make these long rides for lesser reasons. OKC is a great city to do things in i would call and talk to them.

I was going to look up numbers for Tulsa and OKC this week. Our chapter advisor last year was from OK and said the Tulsa chapter was her preference. Tulsa is also closer by about half an hour. What do you think? Thanks!

Did you ask Kris if she knows anyone still involved in the Tulsa alum group? Do they have an Ivy Connection in either city?

Well I have been trying to email the tulsa and OKC alumni chapters, but I cannot get the links on internationals web page to go through. I sent an email to the alumni leader at internationals to see if they can help out. Just updating everyone!

Hi ivysis
I just wanted to say "hi" to ivysis. I know what it's like to leave one fabulous group of Phis and have to seek out another one.
I worked with the Texas Tech chapter of Alpha Phi for four years in Lubbock. A year ago I moved to Atlanta. And I am still trying to "fit in." I am going to be doing the Atlanta area Alpha Phi website--so that should help. But I know how you feel.
All us crazy characters on GC are here for you though. I mean crazy in the most loving way, of course.
AOE,
Geneen

I havent gotten a response back from anyone yet. I emailed the alumni chair at internationals because for some reason when I clicked on the alumni chapters president's name (to email them) I wasn't able to get their address (I just got an empty to: spot). I still dont have a job so I have time to do some more looking around. Mike and I are going to head up to OU sometime this fall, so I plan on stopping in at the house there. He has a chapter there as well. We are also getting tickets to the CU/OU football game in OK this year. Should be fun.
