Regarding: Anybody ever heard of...?

RUPhiSig wrote about a local, formerly a chapter of SigEp, at Radford called "Delta Tau Chi".
Somebody please get me their phone number! I'd really like to talk to Bluto, D-Day, Otter, Boone, Pinto and Flounder and all the rest! Is there really a DTX house at Radford? Didn't they have any problems with copyrights? In any case, what a hoot to have those letters! Now we know what happened when DTX left Faber. Rock on!

What's DTX? Is it a fictional fraternity?

Serenity,
Delta Tau Chi is the fraternity from the movie "Animal House". The people I wanted to talk to in my posting are the principal characters around whom the story revolves. If you have never seen this film please get a tape or DVD and watch it tonight. While it is loaded with images that would today be considered non-PC it is one of the most delightfully funny movies I have ever seen. My Dad and his friends tell me that while it is a 'send up' of fraternity life in the early 1960's they recognized every character as one they could identify from their own experiences and that it was a little too close to reality for comfort. However you cut it the movie is a classic and ought to be seen for its pure enjoyability. Dad tells me that when the movie first came out every fraternity man from every house he knew of all claimed that it had to be based on their house. Talk about universal impact!
Anyway, please see the movie and tell me what you think.

Red face Okay, Now I'm Really Embarrassed...

Thanks, dekeguy. Especially for all the info about your dad and his friends.

Of course, I've heard of "Animal House" but I never saw it. I wasn't allowed to when it came on cable and then when I was old enough, it would just slip my mind until the next time it came up in conversation. It always comes on USA or TBS and I never watch it because so many people tell me it would be better to rent it than to watch the editted for television version. It's funny because I could almost hear everyone reading this thread going "She's never seen 'Animal House'!?!". That's usually the reaction I get. Right before "Oh man, you gotta rent it!!"

I keep meaning to rent it, but I usually don't step away from the new release section unless there's an oldie that I want to see that is fresh in my mind at that moment. Since that is now the case with "Animal House" I am definitely going to rent it as soon as I get a chance. I'll let you know what I think after I watch it.

I've never even seen any of the "Revenge of the Nerds" movies or even "Fast Times at Ridgemount High". I think next time I go to Blockbuster I'll pick them all up.

Serenity,
Even the 'edited' version is worth watching. This is one "gotta see" movie. Please let me know what you think when you see it.

Delta Tau Chi is in reality a completely fake fraternity- it's an amalgamation of all the fraternities that were at Dartmouth College in the early 60's. There are a couple locals around the country that have taken the name since the movie came out. But the original characters are just charactures of men from Hanover.
