I feel bad that Terri had to quit her job but sista girl has enough $$$ to not work for 3 years. I WISH.

Yes, this season opener was great! I was about ready to kick Lem's @$$, I mean he just got back in good with the family himself!

Yay!! Everybody came back!!! Hopefully, Bird will be fine, I'm still a little concerned for Kenny, I was almost in tears when he was walking on the walker as Ahmad was being baptized...I hope that he makes a full recovery. However, did anyone else think that the part where his arm fell off and the fingers on the hand were moving was a little strange? I know Kenny was having a nighmare, but that part was silly to me. I'm glad that Terri is free from Greene and Norris, I think that her character will be better for it. Maybe she'll take the airline from last season up on their offer and work for them. And, speaking of changes, what happened to Miles? He was supposed to come to the hospital!! I wonder if he's going to come back and he and Terri are going to get something started. And WHY is Lem trying to fight with Damon over the accident? I couldn't believe he was trying to tell Damon that he was wrong for visiting Kenny, like he was competing for friendship with him. Looks like next week will be just as good, considering Kenny's secretary is back and wants to "make it all better". I can't wait to see what Max has to say about that!!

It was a sleeper to me, and I only hope it picks up. I like Terri, but I'm tired of her family using her. Max had nerve to get a little mad when she said she was going back to work, like Terri suppose to be official babysitter. Lem needs to check hisself, but his half azz apology made him look a little better. I want to see the secretary and Kenny get a little tempted. Just something about Max I don't like in this series, Now Vivaca Fox played that role.
I don't know many black SAHM's, isn't that a white thing. All the sistas I know have to work. I just hopes it picks up.

I haven't liked her since day one! She is so jealous of Terri it's pathetic. Terri cannot help if Max's son looks up to her, or that Terri got her stuff together.

When she put a lean or whatever on her mama house, that was it for me!

I hope Byrd get better also. Man how fine is her man. And he love the hell outta her also, how cute!

I, too, dislike this Vanessa Williams character as Maxine. Vivica Foxx played the mess out of the role.

You all need to pay attention to the opening credits, KENNY will be fine. There is a scene where he and Max are acuddly and cozy.

I guess since they skipped the action up a week and Miles is gone back on the road that we will not see Miles as a character this season except in guest starring role.

I understand Lem dogging out Damon. Remember he had just got his wife back and to lose while the person responsible walks away with headaches. Lem is reacting out of anger and fear. Don't worry I know that WHATEVER DOES NOT KILL YOU WILL ONLY MAKE YOU STRONGER. I also think that Lem blocked Damon from seeing Kenny because Kenny is very important to him like the POSITIVE BIG BROTHER figure to him.

okay soul food is gonna have to come better than this for me to sit down on wednesdays and watch it.

i never watched it until the middle of last season when my fiancee started hosting "soul food wednesdays" with her friends and last season was a'ight. now this bogus mess they showed as a season premiere...left something to be desired.

terri actually came out looking as the more family oriented in this one...which was good. they always try and make her to more career oriented...making her seem like...she could care less about her family and only about her law firm. btw...i dont understand why she keeps trusting that white boy she talks to frequently...that is just ignorant.

lem got some damn nerve. who is he to confront damon? like someone else said...he just got back in with the family.

maxine...ummm...needs a life! terri is the one that financially is the most stable of all of them (remember when she said, "i'll be okay for three years without working" *paraphrased* but you know a sista got loot to say that!)...and has been from the movie. she is the one that will probably foot the bills for the hospital stays and whatnot. so if she is concerned about going back to work and doing what she has to do for her fam...then let her do it. shes not max's babysitter...damn.

poor bird...but i can see theres about to be some problems.

all in all...soul food needs to step up the quality of the shows if they expect to get renewed.

speaking of shows *switching channels* when is OZ coming back on? dag!

Acutally, I've read a few reviews that support Soul Food far more that Resurrection Blvd. Better writing, producing, etc. I thought the season opener was pretty good. It is a soap-opera, like Sopranos, more than a mini-movie each week. As such, it's one of the better soap-opera's I've seen. I still love Damon, and I did think Max was out of line for having attitude when Terri wanted to go back to work. I would be encouraging Terri to work in order to maintain a stable financial base for the family. Terri was wonderful during this episode. Lem's affection for Bird was heartwarming, although any woman with a UTI has probably also peed on herself before, so that wasn't that big of a deal--I thought she was hemorraging at first or something. That little boy's head is still too big!

I am so glad everybody came back, especially my man Damon. Whew! That man is fine. But I can see that he and Terri are going to have problems with intimacy.

I don't blame Terri for leaving. Green-Norris thought they were about to run game on her. Terri could open up her own law firm or work anywhere, if she's that good.

I can't believe that Max got a 'tude with Terri for going back to work. I mean, Kenny can't work, Bird can't work, Lem probably makes enough just for his immediate family, Max doesn't work, so somebody has to make the money. They always come to Terri for the money, but now when she needs to go back, they trip? WTF?
Max does need a life, the jealousy is so obvious.

I also can't wait to see what happens with Lila and Kenny (he's cute too).

I don't see Max as being jealous of Terri but if you remember from the movie, Max was considered to be the daughter most like Mother Joe. MY meaning is she is the one who looks after her sisters, yes they all look after each other, but Max is most like the mother to her sisters. She is the peacemaker.

Yes I think she was upset that Terri went back to work, but I think it was more of I NEED YOU SISTA for me to lean on. My husband is laid up with a broken back, I have 3 kids and now I need to run his company. I also think that since Max is a SAHM, she is timid at the thought of going back to work. Max needs to gain confidence. In the series they portray her as a sex crazed, overbearing mom and I hope this season she begins to assert herself more as a woman who can run things.

Yes, Terri should be there for her sisters, but she also had some unfinished business of her own. Now, that she has quit, she can be there all the time for the family. Which will probably get on Max's nerves too.

I saw the season premier and thought it was pretty good. I liked the fact that everyone came back as well.

As far as Terri quitting - I am glad her character left.....the world is FULL of Greene Norris or better so why trip over one job.. after all it IS just a job. Family is where the heart should lay anyway.

Lem is just FOINE! No other way to put it but he was out of order for the way he spoke to Damon and for what he said to Damon. Lem barely got an entire foot in good w/ the family again so he is really skating on thin ice.

I hope Kenny's character recovers because his character is such a good man. A man with flaws but a good man who loves his family to no end. As far as black SAHM's.. I know SEVERAL black women who do not have to work, taking care of their children and living in PHAT homes here in MD and SC.

I love the fact that Soul Food recognizes that black people encompass all types of lifestyles and do not always have to be perceived as struggling lab rats.

I like the show and am sure this new season will pick up.
