HELP?!?!-what to write on your exec. board application

I dont know if this is the right board, because i also posted it in the sk forum, but ill try anyway. well I have to turn in my eboard application in tomorrow and i still dont know how to sell myself. i would like to apply for the position of recording secretary and i am at a loss for words. this position records all the minutes of every meeting. i have been a dedicated member for a year and a half and was given the position of sistherhood chair this passed fall. i take great notes and i am always the sister you see at every event wearing our letters with pride. i do a great job nominating "sis of the week", holding sno nights, and our annual serenading night. i still like to go out with the girls on the weekend, but i know what my priorities are. i am the one who gets to do the grunt work if none of the others want to do it. i am happy for doing it, because i love my chapter and what sigma kappa stands for. i even went to az for convention. i am so worried that if i try out for this position i will not get it. so if anyone out there would like to help me out that would be greatly appreciated.
LIS,
LIZ

Post Suggestions

Hehe... sounds a lil familiar. I just filled out my application a few weeks ago. Since then I've been elected also! (Yay! Go me!) I'm the Triangle Correspondent. I wanted to do that because I'm into the whole journalism thing and I'm excited about writing stuff for our national magazine and producing our newsletter! Plus I get to be on Cabinet

Recording secretary is an important job. There's a lot of responsibility, and I am sure you know that. I think you should list everything you have done in the chapter during your last office. I also think you should make suggestions of what you'd do in your new office. An example would be making spreadsheets on Excel that have a record of everyone's attendance, points (assuming your chapter uses a point system because mine does), excused absences, etc. That way you could post it every other week and people would kind of know where they stand.

I'd also mention about how you have good attendance. It is very important that the recording secretary be at all chapter and house meetings. I'd also mention that you were organized, seeing how that is important, too.

Good luck! I hope you get your position

SigKapQueen,
I just got done with all of this too! Don't freak out. Let them know how much you love the chapter!

You sound like a reallly organized person--mention that. For recording secretary that is ALWAYS a good thing. If you can think of a way to improve the office, mention that.

Tell them why you are good for the position and the things you would like to do with that position.
I am running for two positions on exec and one non exec. I'm out of state so i won't be around for elections and none of the new girls know me.
Good luck.
