Just wondering...
I'm a member of the US Air Force stationed in Korea at the moment, and enrolled in the University of Maryland's Asian campus. Soon, I'll be moving back to the USA, and transferring to UM's College Park campus to finish my degree (I'll have three and a half years of school to go by that time.)
My question is this... how old is too old to rush? I've been in service since graduating high school, and am 25 now. I realize that most of the rushees out there are just out of high school, or at the most, sophomores -- have the GLOs got room for so-called nontraditional students?
I'd appreciate any input on this situation, thanks...

Cricket -
Sounds like you'll have a lot to offer a chapter at U of M. I've seen men and women pledge in their late 20's and been accepted with no problem.
Research the fraternities on the campus and attend the parties at the houses whose goals and mission most meet yours.
Good luck!

If you have to go around telling everyone you're in charge you're not much of a leader.

In the NPHC there are NO discriminating rules regarding age. I pledged a woman while I was in undergrad who was 28. She had Zeta written in heart...and a Zeta is what she became.
Besides, 25 is YOUNG! Do your research. Enjoy life! Have fun, and good luck!

Cricket, I say go for it! Age is no issue, if you have the love and committment for your GLO.
One of the awesomest and most active sisters in my Chapter went into the military right out of high school, served during the Gulf War, then started college. She is one of our Chapter Founders, has graduated and is a successful professional, and is still giving full force to the Sisterhood! She is active in the Alumnae Chapter, and in sponsoring a new Chapter. She has the goals and ideals of Alpha Sigma Kappa in her heart, and that's all that matters. She is definitely unique as a non-traditional student and veteran. And we are privileged to call her Sister!

My local chapter has a member in it that is thirty years old. I would say that it really depends on the sorority that you look into joining.
