Growing Jalepenos
I'm trying my hand a little with gardening. I'm growing a few Jalepeno plants. I've got quite a few peppers now but I don't know how to tell when the damned things are mature!
Anyone have any idea on how this is done?
I grew habaneros last year and they turned orange. I don't think Jalepenos give clues like that..

I grew some jalapenos last year. You're right, they don't turn color. They should be green and shiny... if a pepper starts to shrivel up even slightly, pick it immediately. Jalapenos can be refrigerated or frozen, so don't worry if you can't use it right away - but if you do store it, cut off the end with the stem.

Thanks.. Is there usually a certain length they'll grow to -- or are all different?

Length depends on variety. You can pick them safely around 1.5 - 2" or let them mature on the plant a little longer. Jalapenos will turn bright red, similar to a green pepper left on the plant to mature.
We are pepper heads around here. Currently we are growing:
Habanero
Datil
Ancho/poblano
Gypsy King (sweet)
False Alarm jalapeno (mild jalapeno, great for poppers)

Since we're on the subject...
I'm growing cayenne peppers and giant chile peppers this year for the first time. Do I need to wait until the cayenne peppers turn red to pick them? The picture of the peppers on the little planting insert showed red and green ones, so I wasn't sure.
Also, there was no picture on my giant chile pepper plant insert. Anyone know if these are green -- or do they change colors also?
I'm growing Hungarian hot peppers also... They're fun to watch. They've gone from yellow to orange to red.

Chilli Piquin (sp) grow wild here. Also Tomatillos do as well.

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but can you grow jalapenos in a container indoors? Growing them seems like the best idea in the world, but I live in a condo and don't really have access to a yard for planting.

The package should read (usually reads) "full sun"
They probably wouldn't make fruit.
