A Chance to Apologize to A GLO On Your Campus

This thread is for those who want to apologize to any GLO at their school for the perceptions that they might have had about them, but got to know people in the GLO or whatever and their perception of them changed.Also for events that may have happened, etc.. Ill start....

I apologize to Kappa Alpha Theta: University of Michigan- Ann Arbor ('97-'01)

There was a girl in Theta my freshman year on my floor. She had her sisters (pledge class) kind of made my life a lil miserable that year. They would stare me down. Listen to my conversations when I was in the hall talking on the phone (we all use to do that if our roomates were alseep and the hall was pretty empty), stop their conversations whenever I came out my room and stare at me, and leave little annoying messages for me on my part of our dry erase board that me and my 2 other roommates had up. Never a message left on there 2 parts, always on mine and sometimes about me. Needless to say, I hated Theta. And with a passion. If someone brought up their name, it took me less then a milla second to say something snide back. I think she even tried to kick me when I went through formal rush and was at Theta's house. She was getting up from talking to her group of girls and came in the direction of the group I was in. She so easily could have went the other way. Anyways she got near me and I was sitting indian style on the floor and right when she got to me her foot swung out and I had to lean over a little so it would miss. Even her sisters gave her a look that was like WTF? I swear honest to god I have NEVER done anything to this girl, except breathe it seemed.
Anywho, One of her sisters who I was talking to during rush was absolutely wonderful and gave our group the most amazing advice. Then later in my years I got the chance to work with two other Theta's who were absolutely awesome and some of the greatest people I know. Plus my senior year (and yes after 3 years you think she would have been over whatever, but no, we had a class together and she STILL gave me looks), some of her pledge class sisters were in our class and they were pretty cool. So again I apologize to the women of Kappa Alpha Theta. I shouldn't have let one dumba$$ spoiled BRAT (ok a couple) make up my perception of your org.

of course there is one house on my campus that I have a beef with...and I too am guilty of hating every member of this organization, not just the ones at my school. all my brothers know what house this is and understand why I feel this way...

i am apologizing to the phi mus on my campus......

i lived with a phi mu my junior year and she made my life totally miserable with a select few of her sisters. honestly, they were really annoying all the time...they would leave all their crap in my apartment, come in singing and clapping to wake my roomate up in the morning, and call 24-7. After my roomate dropped out of college, a tri-sigma and another AZD moved in with me. We took the Phi Mu letters off the door and put up Tri-Sigma letters insted. Well, the oldroomate came back and went balistic. She broke into my apt. stole money out of all our wallets, destroyed the Tri-sigma's room, and wrote Phi Mu all over the door in pink paint pens and pink magic markers. It was horrible!!!! Later, I found out from another Phi Mu that was in my class, that the Phi Mus that used to come over and hang out with my old roomate came and helped her with the breaking in and destruction of property, ect. The Phi Mu in my class apologized for her sisters behavior. Later, the chapter wrote me and the Tri-Sigma roomate apology letters and basically that they didn't condone what had happened, and the girls were up on standards. But needless to say i had a reallly bitter taste in my mouth about Phi Mu for a long time.
When I became head rho chi, they paired me with two Phi Mu's that I never knew, Heather and Carrie. The three of us became great friends and cried when we graduated. They totally changed some of my perception of Phi Mu.

I have always loved SnakeY K's. Toured their HQ twice, even met the national president. Our HQ are across the street. We share the same founding day. My best friend is a Snakey K. Have always had respect for them. Many of my brothers have gone on to marry them. Our meeting were always next to each other in the UC. I dont think a single brother of mine cant do their cheer from hearing it so often. "S-I-G-M-A-K-A-P-P-A, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Kappa, Oh yeah, Oh yeah......" haha. They even mixed with us when there was like 12 of us and no one lese would.

Anyway over the last few years, we have gotten a lot larger, and they have had serious trouble. I cant stand "Rochelle" She used one brother for a checking account. Slept with like half of us, then told me off at a party (when she was a pledge) I was in for 4 years at the time and IFC VP. She told me, "no one here knows who you are, why are you even here. Youre no one on this campus. No one invited you...and I know all the Lambda Chi's, and I'll make sure you never get a bid from them, so you might as well go home." I was actually laughing, because at that point I was not only IFC VP, but Rush chair, student govmt representative and served on the presidents task force on wellness issues. So I thought it pretty funny. Ever since then shes been a thorn in my ass.

Well during greek week this year one of our brothers (ya know the one, the lush) showed up drunk to lyp sync. Alcohol at Greek Week! Who knew? (On my campus liquor is so prevelant at GW, they outta have a co-contest at Bowling to where everyone does a brethalyzer test and the chapter with the lowest BAL wins the event.) ANYWAY... "Jim" (the lush) calls another fraternity, "the mexican chapter." (interesting to note of course, is that Jim is hispanic, and even looks it. Also a percentage of my house is latino). Yes it was wrong, but it wasnt maliciously said. Of course "Rochelle" hears it and insted of telling our chapter president, instead of telling her advisor, or having her leadership get in touch with our leadership and handeling that way. No, she tells the greek advisor and we get in trouble and have sanctions now. UGH. I am mad a "Jim" for saying what he though was an ok comment from his background, but not thinking there would be "ears" around looking to bust us.

It just chapped my ass that there was no loyalty there. I understand that over the years chapters change, and their alums are really dissapointed with them for their performance and none of the newer alums even want to associate with them... so even in Janury in COB, we busted our ass to help them, set up stuff for events, and this is how we get repayed.

So I began to harbor a lot of anger at SK for what I felt was a betrayal. But now that some time has passed, I am not as angry, and have considered the source and moved on. I am sorry that I was ready to blow off a great impression of an organization for the multiple actions of a stupid ass.
