That Rochester NY, Junior Circle
Since I had to work until 7am this morning I logged on the computer at work a couple of times so I wouldnt be bored. I checked out IHQ's site. Surprise, surprise now you CAN put in the simplest things for a sister search and have answers come back. I got a full listing of all Alpha Gam's in Rochester and found that there are 124 (take away the few that have passed, deactivated, etc. about maybe 90-100). That is still plenty to do a alumnae club if not a junior circle. Its seems most of the women would be in that bracket anyways.
So I have decided that I am going to write Gail Paul, the contact for the "Rochester JC" and ask her if she wants help with it, so we can get something started. It makes no sense to have that many alums in the area and nothing going on. Just thought I'd clue you all in since you have heard me b!tch about it so much

Tonya, good luck on the JC! I know you'd wanted to do it for a while now.

Tonya that's wonderful!
Not only will you be helping get yourself active again with Alpha Gamma Delta.... you'll give our sisters living in your area the opportunity, too.
What a beautiful thing!

Mai

Keep us posted. There are a couple of alums from my chapter in the area and I'd like to let them know if you do get things going!

Good Luck with everything! It's a lot of work, but so rewarding! If you need any help let us (me) know! If you haven't done so already, be sure to get a list from IHQ too with all the women in the area. Their reports have more info (like phone numbers) then the website.

Tonya,
It seems that we're going to be going through this at the same time! I just got some info about starting a JC in the Philadelphia area. I typed Philadelphia PA into the sister search and there were about 200 hits, so I'm hoping that with that many people, there have to be a few that will want to participate. We'll have to compare notes along the way. Good luck to you!

Donielle

Good luck
Starting up a JC is hard work, but it pays off in the end. The Chicago JC started in January and so far it's been great.
I would suggest using Evite as a way to invite people to the First Informational meeting (they can see other people responding - the more that respond the more people will come). I would also suggest getting in touch with your local alum chapter, they're usually great with encouragement and providing support. Our JC is involved with an area Panhellenic and since we have to pay dues to NPC (and the JC has no budget), the alum have covered that expense for us. Just keep in mind that usually about 25-30% of your members will show up at events, but if it's not the same people every time, you've got strong interest in the JC.
I know you'll do great, and people will constantly mention to you why there wasn't A JC before this because it's such a great idea getting involved again....

Amy

Good luck in starting the JC! I have been a part of starting two JCs, one in Indianapolis and one in Los Angeles. It does take a lot of work and dedication to get it started. Once women start bonding, more will attend events. Keep your head up and do not give up!

Good luck to you!
I started one in Omaha Nebraska, the start-up wasnt the hard part for me, but I do know that you should contact Rebecca, the JC chairman.
She has LOTS of information about starting one and plenty of ideas!!
