Classes are full! Help!

Hi!

I really need/want to take classes at the local college to get rid of some GEs. Prob is, today was the last day to register for the Summer Session and the classes I want are full!

So I'm gonna go to class on the first day anyway to try to persuade the professor into letting me in. Do you guys have any tips for me?

Thanks for any help!

Car-
I "crashed" almost every course every semester of my college career. It is doable. Just get there early.

Good luck!

Car, I'm assuming that the classes you're going to take are Intro courses, right? I have a feeling that the professors will probably let you in just as long as there are enough seats in the room. I'll echo Amy though...get there early...you don't know how many times I've had to sit on the floor on the first day!

On the first day, if the professor says "If you're not registered yet for this class, please don't take a syllabus just yet...save them for the ones who are registered..." I say just take one anyway.

Good luck!

Definitely go the first day and be waiting for the professor and tell him or her you want to register if there are any vacancies. So often there are!

another thing you can do, is wait until the day of financial disenrollment..the people that haven't paid lose their spots..at least thats how it worked at my school..

at my school that would have made it too late to register for classes....

crashing the class the first day is best method, IMO.

AT UH-Manoa, the day after financial disenrollment is when unclassified students (usually new and incoming) are allowed to register. Continuing students would have to wait until the first day of classes before they can make changes to their registration.

good advise all.

Also try the dept head. Make up some BS story including drama and they'll let you in. Remember this isnt HS, so no NEVER means no. Theres always someone higher up who'll say yes. I havent seen a college administrator who was that much of a hard ass - except the financial aid peeps at my school. Oh and apparently the entirety of the Alfred University trustees.

Congrats and welcome to college. When is your graduation form HS? I wanna celebrate on line!!

Hard asses...you must be talking about the people at the Parking Office on my campus. But the Financial Aid people are just as bad.

Leave it to you, lifesaver dahling, to find an excuse to celebrate (which probably means having a few...) online.

Always my beautiful, always. Now if I could just get the whisky outta the jimbeam.com website

hahha...

But I HAVE to celebrate Car's graduation. Since she is 18, and underage, and itis illegal for minors to drink, and we all know they follow and respect the law. Sooooo, I shall have her celebratory toast. {what a good friend I am!} So I have to go downtown and bar hop. newbie, where would you like me to go to celebrate for you?
{No comments from Earp, about my bs!}

{BTW - leave it to me to make ANY thread about me...hahha.}

"Classes are full" doesn't mean ANYTHING at my school, unless the class is a requirement for a lot of majors and it's already at an enrollment limit of 250 or so.

I'd say go to the first, then the second, then the third. There is usually such a drop by that time.

Keep checking to see if someone has dropped out of the class. I've done that every semester and have always ended up with the schedule I wanted. Our course selection is online so I would just keep on checking the status of the class. As soon as someone would drop, I'd put myself into the class.

There was a guy that was willing to pay $400 for someone to give him their spot in a class I'm taking this summer.

If all else fails, bribery usually works!

There should be some type of procedure that you can go through in order to enroll in the classes that you need. We had to petition to register for a class that was full. Maybe they have something like that there. Good luck!

At A&M it is a tradition to go the first day of classes to the pavillion and stand in line for about 6 hrs to speak with people who can register you-I found that even though the classes were full at time of registration (which was months earlier), usually the first day of class someone would drop and I would be there to take their place
