I want My (old) MTV!
Except for the Osbornes, Real World, and Cribs and a few other shows, I do not really care for MTV. What old MTV shows do you miss and wish they would bring back? Here's my list:
Yo! MTV raps
Midweek Concert
Weekend Concert
Headbangers Ball
Remote Control
The Young Ones
Contests worth entering
I Can't wait to see the responses!

I'm still waiting for headbangers ball to come back.
BTW, my buddy just did a really cool tour, Tool>Slayer>Tool.

Can't forget about 120 Minutes!
Too bad MTV doesn't really "break" new music anymore...

I agree! MTv only plays videos that are "brand spanking new" and even at that, you're lucky to see ALL of it. I want more videos. I don't think I know what half the video's are for any of the songs anymore. What happened to a music star's ability to get more sales with videos? I just don't see it happening. There are way too many stupid shows that we could do without and enough time in the day for real videos...hasn't VH1 done away with a lot of videos too?!

I COMPLETELY agree about "120 Minutes". I watched that religiously when I was a weekend hotel night auditor. I learned to love alternative music because of it!! Someone told me that it still comes on MTV2...Is this true?

Honey, I am quite aware that there even might be GCers who were still in diapers when that show was on.
But hey, when ya do something as cool as that (being selected from 500 people, after 3 auditions), why SHOULDN'T I be proud to admit it? Heck, I'm just happy someone on here remembers that show!!!!
Oh yeah - I wore my KD jersey!
And BTW, if you're wondering, I announced my age on another thread on my birthday a couple weeks ago - I'm 35.

If you want music they have the new cable channel (most markets don't have it) M2 or was it MTV 2? Anyhow, they cut out all of that cartoon crap... It's mostly music.
The trouble these days is that MTV has become nothing more than a huge publicity tool for the music industry. It doesn't exist anymore just to bring new music to you.

Yes they did. And what did they replace it with: MTV's crappy shows!

I'd like to reiterate what I think is the worst part of music videos on MTV these days......
I'm watching one of today's "artists" do their thing, all of a sudden, the sound goes low, and some idiot in the lower right hand part of the screen does something similar to the following:
"Hi, my name is Joey from San Francisco, and I requested NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye because Justin is so hot and they REALLY can sing, and they're the bestest band I ever sawed! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
I miss Idiot Savants and Remote Control......oh, and Beavis and Butthead.

Old woman and MTV
I've peeped MTV since its 1982 launch, but I pretty much stopped watching it within the last decade.
It was a useful tool back when I was listening to popular music. Now, however, it seems to be something to hype all this teenage-style tripe that's in the market.
BTW, I also liked The Young Ones.
