Ok...where would you like to see Alpha Phi Omega colonize?

Yes, I know that we don't use the term Colonize in APO, but I'm copying a similar thread from the "Alpha Phi" board that I misread as being ours.

Lafayette, but I think the RD has to keep the overeager helpers away...

Canada, some places would be better to start than others, but I'm good.

Brigham Young University or for that matter anywhere in that area. As best as I can tell, there is a circle 300 miles in radius Eastern Region X with no active chapters. My wife is a Latter Day Saint, so I speak "Mormon Scouting".

More HBCUs, with Zeta Phi chapter at Howard being strong, that should help. I think most of the HBCUs would be willing to use Howard's treatment of Alpha Phi Omega (APhiQue) as a model (with the possible exception of those HBCUs that view Howard as a rival instead (Hampton, Morehouse/Spellman))

So where are the schools that you'd like to see?

I would love to see a chapter at Lewis University. I'd also like to see Northwestern's chapter come back.

Agreed on both. While Lewis has no national NIC or NPC greeks, it has local fraternities, sororities and a fratority (their term) as well as half the NPHC and lots of national GLO honoraries. Doesn't look like they'd reject us out of hand.

As for Northwestern, according to apo.org, we've got an interest group there. As best as I can tell the group is doing rather well, I found a newspaper article that said that it had 50 members back in February (http://www.nnntv.org/viewstory.php?story_id_key=2198). Looks like they may have the standard 80-20 issue (if the group is more than 80% one gender it can have problems recruiting the other gender). (It was declared inactive at the July 2002 board meeting).

Alpha Chapter
Lambda Chapter
Upsilon Chapter
Psi Chapter

I think a chapter could thrive at Bowie State with the correct advisors and culturally competent staff.

I can't think of too many schools which have never had a chapter that I'm just dying for us to be.

Now if you ask me where I think we ought to have alumni association, that list is very long.

Alpha = Lafayette, I think we can all agree on that.
Lambda = U of Kansas, a primary Region VIII target.
Upsilon = U of Wisconsin - Milwaukee , Target for Region IX, though I think all of the UWisc schools are viewed about the same. (Other than U of Wisc -Madison)
Psi = UCalifornia - Santa Cruz. Target for Region X, though I think most of the UC schools are viewed about the same.

(Note, adding these four wouldn't give us all of single letter chapters active, Upsala College (Nu) has closed)

I'm not sure why a sectional staff that has handled Zeta Phi @ Howard and UDC wouldn't be culturally compentant for Bowie State, but please PM me if you don't want to discuss it publically.

The schools that I personally would like to see APO extend to in the US where we haven't had chapters are the Federal Service Academies (USMA, USNA, USAFA, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine) and the two Ivy League schools that haven't had us (Harvard & Dartmouth). (Harvard, I know they won't take us currently, no clue on Dartmouth.

Agreed on the Alumni Associations. I will love to see what proposals are made for the next convention allowing for mutual membership in AA's between APO-USA and APO-Phil. (If any)

^^^ APO has made great strides on the national and regional levels to educate itself on various campus traditions and nuances. There is a lot of work left to be done closer to the ground.

Lewis actually has one NIC fraternity now - Phi Kappa Theta.

And that is great about Northwestern! I had no idea there's an interest group there. Hoping they do well!
