Delta Zeta Colonizing
Hey guys!
I know I never post, but I'm always around Anyway, I just found out DZ is colonizing here (UF) in the fall. That will mean we'll have 16 NPC sororities. Personally, I think this is good because so many girls go through rush... we really need it. So I was wondering if some of you could answer a question for me.....what is it like when a new sorority comes to campus? How do they go about recruitment? Does it affect the "chemistry" between the other chapters on campus? Okay, I guess that's more than one question Thankx!

I think the fact that the NPC is allowing DZ to colonize shows theres no bad chemistry already between the chapters already on campus. When my DZ recolonized here we were welcomed with loving arms on campus - it meant less awesome and fun girls would have to get cut and more people have the opportunity to go greek - which is ultimately our goal - spread some NPC (and DZ in my case) love! When we came to campus - we held recruitment after all of the other chapters held theri formal recruitment, like 2 weeks after i believe. When visiting the houses, the women rushing stopped at ours and met national/regional expansion advisors who informed them that a new chapter was coming and gave them some info on DZ - but they didn't rush them. Then 2 weeks later, women from another Delta Zeta chapter (in my case Iowa State) came and held recruitment - everyone who did not end up in a house after formal reqruitment and anyone who wanted to join a sorority were welcomed. The ISU DZ girls just talked to them, got to know them and shared a piece of what our sisterhood is about. They did skits and sang songs too Then every PNM signed up for a one -on-one interview with the national or regional advisors (i was extremely nervous for this but meeting her totally confirmed for me that i wanted to be a DZ) they asked us questions, got to know us, and in the end determined if we would have the leadership and friendship skills necessary to form and recruit for a new chapter. Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply! Hey, I lived in Iowa City from 1st through 8th grade. I miss it, but dang it gets cold!! I was born in Brazil, and I don't think we were built for that kind of weather Anywho, thanks again, and if you ever drive past Northwest Jr High feel a litte nostalgic for my sake

are you sure it's DZ? I heard they hadn't decided which one it would be yet, and it was between DZ and Sigma Delta Tau.
I know each sorority is sending delegates to help out the new sorority, which shows how strong sisterhood is at UF!

I'm pretty sure its DZ because I got an email today from our chapter president telling us that panhellenic was extending the bid to DZ to colonize. Have you heard different?

I just got off of the Phone with Brother Matt Troy and from teh sounds of it, the Greek Orgs are way to large for them to even know each other!
This is a total shame, so why be a member fiyou do not your Brothers and Sisters!
If a school is this large and have this many people in a house, then, it is time to add more Organizations!
Which ever one it is My congratualtions go out to them!
As one grows so must we all grow!
Keep us updated!

I'm so excited--I had no idea we were colonizing there. The colonization process is just like IowaHawkeye said...actually, my big sis was one of the original 23 founding members of our chapter, and just a couple days ago she was describing what it was like when she was being recruited. I wish I hadn't been so scared to come to the COBs I saw advertised around campus, or I might have been a founding member, too!

It's definitely official! The National Expansion Team of Delta Zeta made a presentation to the University of Florida and was invited to colonize there this coming fall. Since our 100th anniversary is in October, the UF chapter will be our "centennial chapter"

By the way--UF will not be our only Centennial Chapter, but I'm not spoiling the surprise...you'll have to wait until convention to find out who else will be joining them!

Do you know if they will be moving in to the TKE house? I'd heard a rumor that the new sorority would take it.
