reasons I LOVE phi mu!

I thought I'd start a thread of all the reasons why we love phi mu. You know, kinda like those fowards you always get about friends, and life, and all? So, I'll start:
I love it that I can meet a phi mu anywhere, and we automatically share a bond

I love the fact that 15 of my sisters will take me out for my birthday, and then embarass me by singing to me in the middle of the restaurant!

I love seeing everyone cry and smile at the same time during firesides and candlelightings!

I love that my sisters will listen to me talk about the same guy for hours and not kill me!

I love knowing that even though I'm going to a school where I don't know anyone next year, I still have sisters in another chapter that I can get to know!

Great idea for a thread!

I love when I desert my sisters for a semester to study abroad, they send me cute cards in the mail to let me know they are thinking of me.

I love my big and adopted big.

I love the anticipation of candle passings.

I love our alums (I was corresponding sec and got to know them more than most of our chapter)

I love seeing a car with a phi mu bumper sticker and knowing that we share a bond even though we have never met.

I love having strange women come up to me in stores and give me the secret handshake when they see my letters.

I love when I miss a meeting and I get calls from 10 sisters asking if I'm OK and if I need anything.

I love that one of my sisters always eats the calimari with legs so I don't have to. That leaves the little oval calimari for me.

I love getting random e-mails on the listserve.

I love chanting.

I love that when my little brother's friends heard I was a Phi Mu, I was elevated in hotness level like 10 points, and they'd never even met me.

I love seeing LIOB at the end of letters.

Well I have many reasons.....but here are a few:

-I love the fact that I can be my completely dorky self, and my sisters love me like that
-I love that I can find sisters all over the country and share an instant bond with them
-I love the fact that when I got my nose broken 4 of my sisters stayed with me that night and they all stayed and slept with me (4 girls in a full size bed isn't always comfy lol)
-I love that whenever I just feel like total crap I have this amazing support system there to listen to me, cry with me, and help me through anything.
-I love to tell stories that NEVER ever have a point to them, and I love it even more that my sisters listen to them and laugh at them with me!
-I love that we can laugh at anything, and have as much fun sitting together in someone's room as we would if we went out to a huge party.

Ok, all this is making me miss my sisters. I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!

This is such a great thread! I'll add. I am a new initiate- a baby sister. I can honestly say that I have never been SO LOVED in my entire life. Being a Phi Mu is like having your favorite family members all living on the same street- theres always someone there for you, and theres always a place to hide out when the rest of the world goes crazy. I recently broke up with my boyfriend (fiance, really), and if it hadn't been for my sisters and the retreat we went on soon afterwards, I would not have recovered. They are my strength and my ultimate joy. And so is any other Phi Mu that reads this post- thats what's so great about this thread. We're all in this together.

-I love that my big will visit me in my dorm while she is on security aide duty to make me feel better about not getting to go out on a weekend because i have to write a medieval lit term paper
-I love that there is always a sister to calm me down when i'm stressing about getting a CMN fundraiser organized by the date it is supposed to take place
-i love that there is always someone to go out or stay in with on Friday nights
-I love that i never had to walk to or from the house (or eat or shop etc) by myself
-i love that when alumnae came to visit we could always talk and never have an uncomfortable silence

I'm a recent Alumna of Phi Mu, and being away has only made me realize how wonderful my sisters are, and how much they mean to me.

~ I love that I can be away for months, and when I go back it feels like home
~ I love that my littles, grandlittles, greatgrandlittles and twin are always willing to find time to see me and make me feel welcome
~ I love that my sisters and I can do anything and have the best time...
~ I love that when I was going through tough times I had sisters sticking up for me even when they had no clue what was going home.
~ I love going places in a Phi Mu t-shirt and having all sorts of people come up and say "I'm a Phi Mu too." It's such an amazing feeling to know there are sisters all over the country...and even the world.
~ I love knowing that no matter what we fight about, Phi Mus will always come together when we need to!

This weekend I love Phi Mu because everyone has their mothers in town for mom's weekend and my mother passed away 7 years ago and everyone (even our house mom) has stepped in to "adopt" me for the weekend! They have made what is usually a hard time for me so much better! Thank you to my Delta Delta sisters!

because when i get bad news i can call my big or one of my other sisters hundreds of miles away and they will just listen to me cry

I love to see the emotion in my sisters' eyes when we go down to Rainbows or Ronald McDonald House to visit the kids and volunteer.

I love making up new Phi Mu songs with my sisters while procrastinating during finals.

Even though it makes some sisters mad, I love it when a sister uses the chapter email list for a funny or crude joke that she got through a relative.

I love hearing our chapter sing with full harmonies to all of our songs.

I love it when you have class with a sister and when you want to agree with the prof, you both start to snap your fingers in agreement, only to laugh when everyone in the room looks at you like you're crazy.

I love it when sisters come visit me when I am states away! Then while they are here, we make letters like the good old times.

I love it when I would be riding in the car with sisters and one of our old rush songs comes on and we sing along-the Phi Mu edition of course!

I love Phi Mu because it brought me my 4 lovely bridesmaids that I would not have known if we weren't all in Phi Mu.

I love it when you think no one understands or cares, there is your sisters.

amongst so many reasons, i couldn't even begin to list, because i'm sitting at drinks tonight, after my best friend from h.s. rehearsal dinner for her wedding tomorrow and talking with her brother and his wife and greek life comes up. next thing you know i'm being told that his wife is a Phi Mu also!!! so exciting. we talked about the house and such, kinda in our own little conversation!! that just goes to show you, Phi Mu is everywhere, even right under your nose when you're least expecting it.
