Explain to me
I am a dense greek. Can someone explain Fiji, Triangle, and Farmhouse to me. Are they considered greek organizations? We didn't have them on my campus.

They are NIC Greek! They just don't have letters (or in the case of Fiji, who are really Phi Gamma Delta, they aren't allowed to wear their letters - I think there were a couple threads on this). Also there is Acacia but I have seen them w/ shirts on that said AKAK.
Triangle is primarily for engineers and Farmhouse is primarily for ag majors.

Confused Greek also. . .
We didn't have any of those groups on our campus. Why can't Fiji wear Phi Gamma Delta letters? Do they have FIJI on their shirts instead??
Wait. . .I did see a car yesterday with a crest and FIJI under it instead of letters. (So I guess I answered the second question already!!)
If this topic was already discussed in another thread, just direct me there!!!
Thanks!!!

This has been the subject of a lot of threads, but just so everyones clear...our letters can be only in certain places, like the houses, flag, badge, certificate, etc. We only use them on things that are directly involved with the fraternity. The backsides of sweatpants or the partition in a bathroom stall are just not places we feel are appropriate for something we value so much. Im not saying other GLOs dont value their letters, we just have a different way of keeping ours dear to us. Other nations value their flags differently than the United States (some have laws against burning them, others allow them to touch the ground), but the reverence to one's banner is equal. Im sorry if this sounds snappy, but I and other Fijis have had to deal with a lot of insinuation that we arent a 'genuine' GLO.

mrblonde. . .
No insinuation about your GLO status or anything, just curious (and uneducated!!).
Thanks for the info. . .It's always good to learn something new each day!!

Again, I am sorry if I was snappy. Three weeks ago some brothers got in a fight with some Phi Delts who were saying that we were too ashamed of our letters to wear them out. I pointed to the tattoo on my ankle and showed him that Ive been wearing my letters every single day since October 2000. I do apologize, and I realize that not everyone knows, it just bothers me when certain people (not you guys ) make asinine, condescending assumptions.

My boyfriend is Farmhouse, and although they are schools with large agriculture programs, they are not an ag. fraternity. They are open to all majors. Also, they do not have greek mottos and such. ACtually, I think it is kinda funny but their initiated members are put into the "Herd Book". I like that, though. But, they are open to anyone and are a member of the NIC.
