big/lil ideas

This isn't something that my big did for me or that I did for any of my littles, but something that one of my littles did for me. During big sis/lil sis week, the new members decided that they wanted to give their bigs presents as well. One of my littles had painted a jar for me and labeled it my "Memory Jar." Then she put a scrap of paper in it with a memory of a something that I had given her on it. The note said that the jar was for me to collect my memories in. It's now full of memories from the past year.

Another idea, that never actually made it beyond a thought, was something another of my littles had thought about doing for me during big/lil week...she had told another sister that she was going to buy a small waste paper basket and leave a note that said if I ever had any problems or something was on my mind, just write it down and throw it away, and that she would be there to help.

I also will be getting a little in the fall. The ideas that these ladies have listed sound like something that I could do for my little.

My Big sis and I took a trip to DePauw to get matching letters! Our bookstore is really overpriced for sets of letters so we decided to drive to one of the schools in the area that had cheaper letters. Since Greencastle is about an hour away from Indianapolis we really got to know each other better and it is really cool that we have matching letters.

Anything where you get to spend time with your big and really get to know her is cool!

letters

Going off of what jharp said about getting letters for less money and spending time with your little sister, at our chapter we make our own letters. With 1/4 yard of fabric you can make 2-3 sets of letters, spend up to $10 on a shirt, then either hand sew them, ask a mother or someone else to sew them, or take them to an embroidery shop (the one here charges $7.50 per set). It's a lot cheaper than buying from the bookstore or the internet. Teaching your little how to make them is a good way to bond with her
