I think most of the MCGLO sororities are represented on here, some of them are kind of quiet though. The biggest problem we have is probably explaining the whole multicultural thing. Unfortunately, some people think the only sororties that exist are the ones on their campus. I know when we were going over our basic information at informationals, some people were like, "Wow, we didn't know there were LGLO, AGLO, and BGLO (besides NPHC)."

It wasn't easy!

We got lucky that my campus has a VERY small greek system, practically unheard of... However, we still had a hard time getting started. I'm originally from Southern California and the "non-traditional" Greeks are pretty big down there. I'll tell you this much though, none of the other Greeks on campus do as much as we do! So that's pretty cool, considering we're the newest org on campus

Hi Eirene_DGP and NoShame_Gamma!!
I am so happy that you all responded...it gets kind of lonely when I hardly ever see any no traditional GLO's on here....but thats not to say I haven't seen the presence of DGP!

Anyways...some of the problems we have had stem from having a very set in greek system here at Va Tech...the greeks here have been here forever and some were not too happy to see new organizations popping up it seemed...but that hasn't stopped us from doing our thang...and making things happen. We have a made a LOT of headway on our campus and I am looking forward to hearing about what its like on other campuses...thanks fr sharing

Yeah, we experienced the same thing when we brought SLU to our campus. We were the first LGLO there and it was the first time for some GDI's and even some greeks to see that kind of process. Although we got a lot of support fom the greek community, there were those who weren't too nice. But, that just made us more determined.

Keep your head up Onelove, Eirene_DGP, and NoShame_Gamma. Keep representing to the fullest and doing your thang!!

Always in Unity,

Serenity

Hey everyone,

So sorry that I've been gone for so long. I've been trying to take care of business

First off, welcome ONElove to GC! I hope you enjoy your stay here! It's a great place to meet other Greeks and gain a lot of valuable information.
Second, my sorority was new on my alma mater's campus 2 years ago. I am a Founder of my chapter, so I can tell you firsthand that getting started on a campus was not easy. I think the biggest obstacle was just trying to get our name out to on campus. That's something that we still work at til this day. Then there was of course getting to know the other greeks on campus. I will be honest and say that we didn't have a problem w/ the fraternities But unfortunately, some of the sororities weren't that welcoming. At this point, though, some of the sororities have really opened up and we've been able to work w/ a few of them. However, there are some that just refuse to really open up. We don't let that get to us though. I mean, we can't make people like us that don't want to. So it's all good. We continue to work w/ who we can and work w/in the community.

Again, welcome to GC! Have fun!

Hey Everyone, first off I have to say hello to everyone, and hope everyone is having a great summer so far.
Anyways, I would say a big problem would be people who are really willing to do the work. Sometimes when chapters are starting out , I think they get discouraged because of lack of respect from other organizations or don't get the turn out that they orginally expected, but you can only learn from the past and present mistakes
