New Delt Central Office
CO Moves on May 17.
For the first time in its 144-year history, the Fraternity has a permanent structure in Fishers, Indiana to call home when the Fraternity moves on May 20. The newly constructed building, located at 10000 Allisonville Road, has 21,000 square feet for office space, a leadership training center, a museum, and a call center.
“After two years of working with architects and site developers on land acquisition and designing a facility, we never would have guessed that we would find the perfect structure already built to meet the needs of both the Fraternity and the Foundation,” Educational Foundation President Ken File said. “The facility is truly built in a manner that is keeping with the character of Delta Tau Delta.”
The purchase of the facility is made possible by the generosity of alumni and friends of the Fraternity through the efforts of the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation. You still have the opportunity to give a named-gift to support the new headquarters

Congrats!
Congrats to the Delta Tau Delta men and their new home!
( Someday Phi Beta will find a permanent HQ!)
Incidentally, DeltAlum... about a year ago I was at a conference and one of the staff members from DTD was telling me about your search for a new, permanent HQ. I don't know if it's the same one they are developing, but one location was going to be the first building on that road, so they were trying to find out if they could have the name changed to something along the lines of "Delt Lane" or "Delta Ave.", etc. !! Don't know if that ever went anywhere, but a neat idea! I also think they discussed something more like "Rainbow Lane" (isn't that your magazine), that wasn't necessarily specific to the fraternity, for when more business or GLOs moved onto the street. (I know I've seen a few business that have their address the same as their name...really easy to remember and find them).

SilverTurtle,
That's interesting stuff that I hadn't heard. I suspect that this is not the same place. Although I wasn't part of the property search, my impression is that this opportunity came up and was acted upon fairly quickly. The original intent was to buy land and build on it. The process has been going on for two or three years.
You are correct about the name of the magazine which was in honor of the "Rainbow Fraternity" which merged with Delta Tau Delta in the 1880's. The Rainbow Fraternity consisted of several chapters in the deep South and was a way for Delt to expand quickly into that area.
As you might imagine, the name has caused some consternation over the past few years due to the connotation of the word Rainbow to the Gay community. You might recall that the University of Hawaii changed from "The Rainbow Warriors" a couple of years ago. In fact, the name of the magazine was changed briefly to "1858", which was the year of our founding. Fortunately, (at least in my opinion) there was a floor debate at our last Karnea (international conference) and the original name was restored.
I say fortunately for these reasons. First, I think the name was changed without going thru the due process that our Bylaws and Constitution require. Second, history and tradition demand some degree of respect. Finally, although I'm not enthralled with the name Rainbow, the reason for changing it was misguided and sends the wrong message in this era of diversity and greater understanding.
What that has to do with the new headquarters, I have no idea, but you don't get this kind of trivia in your average run-of-the-mill post.

DeltAlum,
I think you are right.. it doesn't sound like the same property he was describing much.
I'm also glad to hear you've kept the name of the magazine. He did say that occassionally some younger members would express concern over it, but that the general (or perhaps the better word is official) opinion was that it was one of the agreements made to keep part of the Rainbow fraternity's traditions within the organization, and should remain as it is. I happen to agree with that, although I can imagine some less-enlightened young brothers not being all that thrilled with it.
You're right.. great trivia in this thread!

I really like your new home! I drive past it at least once a week on my way out to Conner Prairie. I was wondering when you all were moving in because the sign out front says 'Future Home of Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity". Its a really beautiful building!
I can also tell you that this would not be the same property as previously mentioned as Allisonville Road is a rather busy road runny from Downtown Indy through Fishers and has a LOT of buildings on it
Anyway, Congratulations!!

DeltaAlum,
My apologogises for not saying Congrats to You and your Fellow Brothers!
Every Great Greek Organization needs a Place to call Hdq. Central or Mecca if you will!
I have never been to my Hdq. and hope that someday that I can make it before I die!
That way I can give them hell in person!
They all know me or of me!
Side bar: One of my guys went to the Dallas Regional and met one of the Ladys that work at Hdq!
Asked him what Chapter and he told her!
Said do you know Tom Earp? He said of course, he is # 1. Asked him is he always very opionated!
Cookie said YEP! She said I thought so! HOOT ALERT!!!!!!
