TLC Channel

I did not do a search on this- forgive me if I am repeating but I LOVE the TLC channel - is anyone else addicted to it?

I'm late for work every morning because at 9 a.m. they show mothers giving birth. I am bawling my eyes out and come to work all red eyed from it but I love it!

You are Not Alone

I am soo adicted to TLC and the Discovery Channel... I was so upset when I found out that my college cable didn't have TLC ... so my poor parents had to tape things...

I love both the TLC and Discovery Channels, and also PBS. This week PBS did a series on 3 families who lived frontier style in Montana for six months. They could only use materials available in 1873 and had the challenge of storing up grain, firewood, and feed to carry them through a 6-month Montana winter.

It was so interesting. The children were between the ages of 8 and 16. The women cooked on wood stoves and baked everything by hand. They grew their veggies and hunt/fish for the meat and proteins.

The bottom line is that it was extreemly difficult for those involved, especially the women, but they all seemed to appreciate having their children and so close and involved in the act of day to day family survival. The children loved the bonding and didnt miss TV or CDs, etc.

TV shows like this have much to offer about life and values.

I'm a sucker for A Baby Story and A Wedding Story.

My cousin was featured on A Baby Story once...and I found that out by accident!

Blueyes, if you get a chance, you should check out "1900 House" and "1940s House" both done by the BBC. I don't think 1940s house (which takes place in WWII London...rations, the Blitz, blackouts and all!) has aired in the US just yet, though. Anyway, same basic principle as the Frontier series - very interesting!

I love to watch a wedding story and a baby story. Although, I change the channel during the birth scenes. Until they clean the baby up!

TLC is awesome! I love all the story shows they have: A Wedding Story, A Baby Story, etc. Also I love all the home design shows. And the science programming is cool too.

Certainly!

It's a porn channel hiding behind an educational one. I've seen everything on there!
