Coke vs Water

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population)

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to
80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour some Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

4. Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?

These are VERY interesting statistics. Where did you find them? I know I could stand to drink more water. Maybe these tidbits will give me a bit of motivation.

I don't trust most of those stats ... not that I drink any soft drink at all myself! Anyone going to get a T-bone and actually see if it really dissolves?

Water is so much more quenching for thirst. Aside from the health reasons you gave, it does allows for blood to circulate properly through the body, clears up acne or blemishes on the face or body, and contributes to strong nails and bones. Just based on it's effects on me, i'm a big fan of water over coke, pepsi or juices.

Agua Fanatic

I drink approximately half a gallon of water every day. Sodas are okay on occasion, but they just have such an ill effect on your person over time, ie acid marks, acne, kidney and urinary tract infections. I'm so serious about it that I buy water from a specific store in Atlanta that filters it a special way. It's that serious.

But here's an interesting look at the flipside. In an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, it was reported that throughout most of Mexico, they drink Coca Cola each and every day. It's mostly for health reasons because their water is of such poor quality. They even feed it to their babies to make sure they gain weight. Sorry, I don't have a link, but I just thought that was very deep.

As you can see by my name, I am addicted to pepsi. I am trying to drink more water. But I do know that coke and pepsi both dissolve battery corrosion because my car died on the side of the road and a mechanic asked for my pepsi. He poured it on the battery and in about five seconds it began to eat away at the rust. !

Since soda makes me sick (unless it's mixed with Crown or Rum or some other alcoholic drink for some odd reason...lol) I stick with water. Besides, I work out 5 days a week and water is very important for that. I try to get 4 big glasses while at work and at least 2-3 after my workout. I'm probably going to drink more water today cause I'm going to happy hour after work.
