New Colony Surprise
Hello my little turtles!-
I saw the post from a UF Phi Mu about DZ colonizing there in the Fall...I just want to say I am excited, but let's not post anything about this on Surfing Sisters or tell any of our non-GC sisters about it. I have a feeling Council wanted to keep this a secret so they could announce it at convention. I like knowing, but think it will be fun to try and keep it under our little cyber-hats as much as possible!
Score one for DZ! WOOHOO!

Andi,
That is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing... I won't mention it to SS. Hopefully, I'll be at Convention to hear the announcement in person. I'm only going for the first 2 days, so we'll see!

Well, I guess the surprise is no longer a surprise! I got a note from Kathi Heatherly, and they have accepted that the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. Oh well. Would have been a cool surprise for convention goers...

excited at UF
I'm a junior at UF and went through recruitment last fall, and though I had a good rush, I didn't end up pledging. Some of my sisters in my music sorority (SAI) and I all considered going through recruitment again, but I'm sure you all know how competitive rush is at UF, especially for upperclassmen. That's why we (about 4 of us) were exstatic to say the least earlier this semester when one of our sisters who also happens to be in Social soro told us that DZ may be colonizing here in the fall. What a wonderful opportunity! We can't wait to see ya'll in sept. alison

Hey Alison!
This may just be the thing for you!
If I understand correctly, DZ will not be participating in formal rush with the other (15?) national organizations. We will probably be introduced during ice waters (or whatever first round is called at UF), and then drop out of the rotation until after formal, and do our own thing (I say "our" and "we," as in DZ...not that I will be there, although I wish I could be on that team!).
Most likely it will consist of several nights...an informational, then interviews....I would expect the interviews to take several days depending on the number of women who show interest. Interviews will be done by a team from HQ and possibly some local alumnae. The recruitment team will be looking for quality, motivated women of all classifications...so don't let being an upperclassman stop you.
Being a founding member of such a major chapter should be exciting as well as extreme hard work--but it is totally worth it in the end. I would encourage you and your friends to consider rushing again (just because I think all options should be considered), but don't forget about this opportunity. Tell all your friends to keep DZ in mind!!!

IowaHawkeye...do you know Lisa Prasse? She went to U of Iowa last year and was a DZ there..now she goes to my school, Illinois State, and is one of my really good friends. She is the New Member Educator of our chapter also...it's such a small world!

OK, someone had posted on another thread I think, something about the possibility of a new Delta Zeta chapter in Texas....... I'm not able to go to convention due to an internship this summer and am dying to find out where (if at all) this possibility could be? I've had my hopes on a few schools expanding for Delta Zeta and am hoping that it's one of them! Someone, PLEASE PM me?

Hey AggieDZ-
Alas, there will be no new chapter in Texas this year. We're working on it, but it's gonna take a little longer than we had hoped...I'll pm you.
