Talking Reef Flip flops!!

I just wanted to say how much I love Reefs!

I was SO excited today when I went shopping, and found out that my local Nordstrom sells Reefs! I wanted some new flip flops and I saw the Reefs. Before, I had asked people where in San Fran is Reefs available, but the closest store was supposed to be a surf store 2 hrs away.

But there ARE Reefs being sold here in The City! Yay!

Previously, my 2 pairs of Reefs were a gift from my sister, who bought them in SoCal!

Just wanted to share my joy .

Oh, I love Reefs too!! Being that I am from a city with a beach, we have several local shops that sell them! They are great flip flops for all of you who don't know of them.

Worlds biggest fan...

How do I love Reefs...let me count thy pairs! I am up to 8, not counting the pair that I lost. The only time I don't wear Reefs is to chapter, and to play sports. Let me just tell you that Ron Jon's Surf Shop is my biggest weakness, they have zillions of them there. I pretty much have Reefs to match every outfit. For those of you who don't know what they are, they are flip flops made in Brazil. The soles are made out of "squishy" rubber, which allows them to mold to your feet, and eventually you just end up wearing them down to nothing. They are THE most comfortable shoes in the whole wide world. The website is www.reefbrazil.com, and they have all of the styles. One of my sisters started calling me Shreefer, because I am never without them. Sorry, I'm obsessed, and will probably wear Reef flip flops on my wedding day!

~Shreefer

P.S. Newbie, congrats on your find!

Thumbs up

I agree, I love Reefs. I have a total of 5 Reef slippers (sorry, I cringe and refuse to call em flip flops)!!! One pair I've even had for almost 7 years already. They're so strong, sturdy, comfortable, and reliable!

Sometimes I freak out at how much department stores charge for Reefs! Luckily, I know one of the guys who runs Reef Distribution in Hawaii and I get to buy em wholesale!

Well, if Talisa Soto can wear flip flops on her wedding day, you CAN TOO!

Nope, in South Texas they are Chanklas. pronounced: Chunk - lah. (but you gotta say it fast). We speak Tex-Mex here.

Tomorrows lesson: The approperate use of the word mira. (pronounced mee-dah, not mir-rha)

I LOVE REEFS TOO!! I'm actually wearing a pair right now. Have you see the ones that have like a velvet bottom? One of my brothers has them and they are so nice. I need to get a pair.

I LOVE REEFS! I wear them all the time since 8th grade. I think it they are really big in coastal areas, everyone in Southern California wears them. My pair I wear nearly everyday is over 2 years old and have been all over with me from Hawaii to Europe; ahh the stories they could tell! I can't give them up and they are so easy to slip on in the morning before class. Really great shoes for only 30 dollars. As you can see, I love my reefs and have 4 pairs currently all in different styles!

Chanklas is short for Chankletas, pronounced chaank-ley-tas. As someone who is latina, I'm curious as so why you think the mira is pronounced mee-dah? Is that a Texas thing?

Yes, chanklas! Haha! Chahn-klah is how I would say it is pronounced though.

I am Hispanic, from Texas and do speak Spanish fluently. I think lifesaver did not know how else to spell the pronounciation. I am having a hard time myself, without using the letter "r" Hmmm....

I was ...

If you say mee-dah fast enough, it almost sounds correct...but I was having trouble withthe phonetics...couldnt get it just exactly right...how do you roll an r phonetically???? hmmmm....

Also was havign trouble phonetically with chanklah. Didnt want people pronuncing it khan-a-la or something... So chunk-lah fast enough almost works too. but one would definately need to substitute the "a" sound for the "u" sound.

carnation is teaches spanish. maybe she could help....
