Yes because the world didn’t have enough reasons to dislike the French.

The only thing I give the French, is that they paid off the WWW II debt. The only Country! But they have alwas treated Americans Like S$#%!
Well, I hope we never have a war and if we do, Defend everyone else but them! They should be speaking a different language than french right now!
Self importance is underwhhelming and they epitomize it!

Yep...the U.S. government staged the moon landing, too.
Does seem bizarre that the French are eating it up, though, doesn't it?

French don't hate Americans... They hate the "Ugly American" tourists (I've travelled with them so I know what they're like -- talking loud and slow in english so non english speakers can understand, etc...) no wonder they think we're all belligerant...
I'm sure if you were French and bumped into enough of those people you'd get a sour taste in your mouth for Americans. This holds especially true in Paris...
In restaurants you get the tourists that freak out when they see something that doesn't resemble a Big Mac... Tourists that just EXPECT French people to all know english...
I speak a little French -- enough to get by... The people I met in France (not in Paris though) would bend over backwards to help you.
For example, a woman in Orleans went way out of her way to help us find our hotel and even went so far as to help us find a good place to park our car.
Their government takes a very pro-arab stance because many of their citizens are Arab or have Arab background. If you go back a in history you'll notice France once controlled a good part of north africa and had many interests in the middle east. Remember those Foriegn Legion movies? To stay in office politicians must pander to the masses and special interest groups that they serve. Why do you think the old Shah of Iran took refuge in Paris in his final years?
Bottom line is -- in America we have our crazies.. Tim McVeigh, Charles Manson, take your pick.. they write books... people buy them. Why should the French be held to a different standard?

When last were you updated on French politics? The "new guy" is NOT pro-Arab at all. Quite the opposite in fact.
Boy, those French sure do have way too much time on their hands.

The views of a people are not always the same as their pres/PM. Historically, the French government has been very friendly with arabian countries. There's a reason why they speak french in Morrocco

and much of their middle-eastern involvement was to counteract British involvement - their colonization of the proposed "palestinian" segment of the British division plan as an example. They colonized - it's not like this was humanitarian involvement. Also - what the hell does north african involvement decades ago have to do with the stance taken by the link in the OP?
I completely agree with your statements on French views of Americans, esp american tourists - I think parts of your historical justification might be a stretch.

I agree with the statements about stupid american tourists in France, that I can see as being true, and I've heard of such stories. Yet, like KSig RC stated, I don't see the correlation between what was stated in the article about a book that claims of the American government staging an attack on the Pentagon, and the colonization and/or the French support of Middle Eastern countries.
That has nothing to do with centuries and centuries of colonial wars between the British and the French. Yes, they may speak French in Morrocco, that kind of thing happens when you colonize a territory and induct your culture, your language and your views in the area.
With that being said, a guy that I know published a very good list of reasons to be part of the "anti-French" movement. Now, it is mainly a joke, but he brings up many good points.
The website is http://www.houseofhate.com and the author of the "anti-French" goes by the name of Janklow.
Here is the "anti-French" link:

What i really want to know and i'm not sure if this man touched upon....how are the attacks on the WTC correlated to this supposed fabrication?
So, what? The U.S. gov't decided to establish an intricate set of lies about the pentagon being attacked by the ground?
What advantage would the U.S. State have in saying the attack was caused by a plane or a truck, does it matter?
Is he saying that because this was 'staged' then the planes were staged as well?
Seems like his argument has some serious flaws...

Unfortunately, there are people around the world who hate the United States and Americans. This author will probably profit greatly from them. C'est la vie.

I have to stick up for my country here. I have lived here for several months and have never heard of this book. Conducting an informal poll, no one I know has ever heard of this book or the conspiracy. To say that the French are eating this up is an exaggerated claim.
As for LePen beating Jospin in the first round of presidential elections, judging by the massive amount of anti-racism riots in France right now, it's safe to say that most people who voted LePen in the first round did so to send a message to Chirac and Jospin, NOT because they believe that a fascist racist should be president. It's like the people who voted for Nader and Buchanon in 2000 because they were unhappy with Gore and Bush not because they believed that Nader or Buchanan would be a great president.
France is really a great country, it is the country that receives the most tourists every year so it must be doing something right. To judge an entire country based on one wacho's conspiracy theory about the Pentagon is really unfair.

Like Cream said, there are a lot of people around the world that don't like the US.
Lionlove, I wouldn't go so far as to blame the whole country, but the article said that it became an instant bestseller, so obviously some people are buying this guy's bull. At least the article says that the French media is mocking this guy.
Yeah, let's just get rich on the US's pain...like all the people that died were just figments of our imagination.
