Talking Your Method

Hi everyone, you know it's finals time. I'm curious to know which study method works/worked for you.

I study using a very frowned upon method. It's the same method I use for writing papers. I wait until the last minute then I pull an all-nighter and work my behind off. I have tried other methods and none work as well as cramming for me. I don't understand it but ah well, whatever works.

I only studied for a final once, WAY back in high school my very first final freshman year. It was terrible, I stressed myself out & i didn't learn anything new. So from that point, my study strategy for finals has been not to study. Cramming does not help me at all. Now writing papers is a different story. I do my best work one week to a few days before the paper is due.

My method varies, depending on the course.

For a mathematical course i.e. Statistics or Accounting, all I have to do is work a few problems and I'll normally have it figured out. If not, I keep doing them until I get them right.

For humanities courses i.e. Economics or Psychology, I have to read the entire chapter and take notes as I do it. For my last test, I ended up with about fifteen pages, front and back, of notes. I cannot just depend upon the class lecture notes. I need both. When I'm finished, I just open up my notebook and read all of my notes or any other pertinent material as many times as I can.
