Alpha Gamma Delta offering SALAD scholarships

Alpha Gamma Delta offering SALAD scholarships

Alpha Gamma Delta Women's Fraternity has announced ten $1,000 scholarships available to campuses sponsoring the SALAD program. The SALAD program, developed by CAMPUSPEAK, aims to bring together the various diverse Greek councils and leaders on a campus for a day of communication, cooperation, and joint planning.

"The SALAD program is an excellent way for these groups to begin working together in a mutually respecting environment," said Julie Cretin, Director of Research and Development for the Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity. "This sort of initiative is consistent with Alpha Gamma Delta's mission, and we are proud to be working with CAMPUSPEAK to increase the number of campuses taking advantage of this innovative program."

SALAD is a one-day retreat curriculum created by the CAMPUSPEAK staff and their diversity and leadership consultants. Topics addressed during a SALAD program include: group stereotypes and image, hot button issues in the Greek community, strengths and weaknesses of individual groups, disparity of council resources, and shared fraternal values. The day ends with a group action plan. The program is designed to bring together between 30 and 60 leaders from the various organizations calling themselves "Greek" on a particular campus. SALAD is facilitated by two fraternity/sorority advising professionals who have been specially trained for the SALAD program.

"SALAD is a leadership workshop, a communications roundtable, a diversity appreciation seminar, and a public relations think tank all wrapped into one day," said T.J. Sullivan, managing partner of CAMPUSPEAK. "Best of all, it's action oriented. It ends with a plan for continued progress, not a group hug. This program pushes buttons, and that's necessary for some of these council leaders to have a real breakthrough."

A Greek leader at the University of Connecticut said, "The workshop was extremely productive and made you open your eyes. I would recommend this program to other campuses because diversity and unity among Greeks is important everywhere. If it works here, it can work anywhere."

Alpha Gamma Delta has designated select campuses eligible for he scholarships. To find out if you are one of those target campuses, or to discuss other funding sources, please contact Tracy Maxwell at (303) 745-5545 or at maxwell@campuspeak.com.

CAMPUSPEAK is currently working with several other national and international fraternities and sororities to set up additional scholarship programs. "It's our goal to make this program both affordable and readily available to any campus that wants it," Sullivan said.

Question

ZEKE, who is the honcho of the whole deal AGD, TKE or who?

I noticed you said it came from TKE but the scholorships are AGD!

If all campuses are like my old Alama Matar and the crap that goes on between the Greeks, I would be a great idea and help keep the Schools off of the Greeks backs!

How does a school become one of the chosen few?

any ifo would be great!!!

Tombstone!

Damn, I am getting to like that!!!!!!!!!
