Personally I would recommend Orbitz. However, try all the online services to see what they can find - it's not like you're commited to buy.

(HOWEVER, if the "low price" is on a "mystery airline," and they won't tell you what it is until after you purchase it, don't go for it. These are frequently charter operations and if the flight is canceled, you are just out your money - you won't be rebooked on another flight.)

You can also call a travel agent; there are some that specialize in low fares. Personally, I think that if a ticket is all you need and you are inernet-savvy, a travel agent is unnecessary. Now if you want to book a cruise to Aruba with plane tickets followed by renting an RV for a week, you might want to call an agent.

As far as days of the week, the traditional lower price (how airlines segregate business fares from leisure fares) is a Saturday night stay. Traveling on Friday won't be more expensive than traveling on a Tuesday, just make sure you're at your destination for longer than a weekend.

You can also get lower fares by being willing to connect in a city rather than flying direct.

But you should be lucky - cheap fares to Vegas are easy to find!

If you can arrange a Saturday night stay, you can get some good deals. Otherwise you will almost certainly end up with an unrestricted (read: much more expensive) ticket.

Check out the websites of the airlines you're considering. Some offer a discount for booking online.

For online booking, I'd recommend http://www.travelocity.com I do all my travel booking there (I even booked my honeymoon through them!!!) They're great and have great prices too!

To get the cheapest flight, the others are right: stay over a Saturday night, allow for connecting flights...and also try to fly to and from a major airport! Flying from a larger city will give you cheaper flights (for ex. I saved $300 once by driving to Atlanta and flying home to Canada, rather than flying from Tallahassee...where I live!)

Good luck finding flights...and enjoy your vacation! I've always wanted to go to Vegas...I'm so jealous of you!

here's what i do and i always get super cheap flights - go to orbitz or travelocity and find the cheapest flight... then go to priceline and quote a price even cheaper than the ones you found - there's a good chance you'll get it.

When I was scheduling my trip to ireland, the cheapest ticket i found was like $400 - i went to priceline and just tried $200, $225, $250 (these were all rejected, haha) but they did accept my price of $289

GreekLetterGirl.....staying over on a Saturday just means to make sure you stay in Cali at least one Saturday night during your trip. For example....say you leave on Thursday, plan your trip so the earliest you come home would be Sunday morning!

That's all there is to it!

Good luck darlin!

Where are you flying from and how old are you? Southwest is really cheap and is even cheaper if you can get the youth fare, which is I think under 21.

Try www.cheaptickets.com or check the individual airline websites for flight packages.

I dont know if anyone has said this already but if you say you can fly anytime instead of putting in a specific date, you usually get a cheaper rate, a lot cheaper!!! You can do it through yahoo travel. I've used that site for years and it's always worked well for me!

also, they are a little cheaper if you wait a little while till june or so..i agree with what iowahawkeye said tho..check around on different sites, get the average price, then deduct 40% off that and offer that to priceline..if your flight schedule is flexible it really can work well..i've had a good experience with them..and recommend them if you aren't on a tight schedule
