Question Inexpensive IRD favors

Hi! This is the first IRD in years that our chapter will be having our own IRD instead of the usual statewide event.

Could someone give me inexpensive IRD favor ideas..keep in mind the majority of attendees will be our collegiates unless a huge miracle occurs (and then I'm definitely buying a lottery ticket, lol).

Thanks everyone!

If I remember correctly, the IRD favor was plastic picture frames with a insertable AGD border. Doesn't sound too costly.

My first IRD we got little red or green cups with lids and straws and they said "Alpha Gamma Delta" on them.

Last year we got some really good quality laniards (sp?), which are are the keyholders.

This year we got khaki caps that had "AGD" (in greek letters) in a dark green screenprint.

In keeping with the "Hats Off to Alpha Gam" theme for this year, our IRD Chair has made up these little tini hat magnets as favors. They are tini woven hats decorated with green ribbon and red and yellow ribbon roses. She just dropped off a bunch for me to take to our Maui IRD this weekend... and they are precious!

The supplies to make them were pretty inexpensive. Got any crafty types in your chapter?

How many will be attending?

Aloha,
Mai Ly

How "inexpensive" are you looking for? And how many people are you planning on?

I've heard of others using bookmarks, squirrel shaped cookies/candies, picture frames, cups...

You could also decorate cheap candles or candle holders. (I've used cheap glasses from Target as candle holders that work well). You could "paint" squirrels, roses, AGD on them, use stencils or maybe even stickers? I think I've seen special paint for candles that looks easy to use. Maybe too much work though...

another idea is chocolate roses, some companies will even make them with white chocolate and dye them red and yellow.

Oh yeah, I forgot that one of our past chapter president purchased a bunch of squirrel cookie cutters and tied red, buff and green ribbon on it and gave everyone in the chapter one for Xmas one year!

(she got them from a store at Stone Mtn park-- so it might be an idea for you Lynn!)

IRD favor

We had a great turnout at the IRD here in Chicago. Someone came up with this great idea for little hats. You take small styrofoam cups, put them on a cookie sheet, put them in the oven at 325 for a couple minues (until they start shrinking). When you take them out, you have little hats that you can tie ribbons around. I would never have thought of putting styrofoam in the oven, someone sure was living life on the edge.

LIEP,
Amy

Well...to be honest, I'm not sure. Usually in the past, the IRD fee paid for the "freebie (lol). This year, the collegiates aren't paying the IRD fee soo...I'll have to see what the IRD Chair comes up with.

But thanks for everyone's suggestions. I'll print them out and keep them for next year since we will be hosting our own again.

Wow, sounds like I've gotten shafted for 4 years! We've never had IRD favors. Maybe I'll pass on the idea to the girls.
