What are YOU doing for IRD?
I was reading through the posts tonight...and Sarah mentioned something about getting ready for IRD. So, since we'll all be celebrating it soon, I was wondering...what is your chapter doing to celebrate? Is anyone doing something new or different? Feel free to share your IRD plans!
I (and I know Mai Ly is too) am excited because we're celebrating IRD on Maui for the first time this year. So a bunch of us (hey Mai, can we really recruit a BUNCH?) are traveling to Maui to celebrate IRD on the 20th. Normally I wouldn't be able to afford such a thing...but we all know MAI LY IS THE BOMB!
Then, on the 27th the Hawaii Alumnae Chapter will be hosting IRD at the Oahu Country Club. It's going to be an exciting day because not only will it be "HATS OFF TO ALPHA GAMMA DELTA"... we're also going to be celebrating the Spring Initiation of the new members. Check out the link I provided to OCC when you have time! We usually have IRD & Panhellenic events there--it's really beautiful!
I get to celebrate IRD twice this year! Yay!

The lower peninsula Michigan chapters (Alpha Beta-U of M, Alpha Pi-Wayne State, Alpha Upsilon-Central Michigan, Zeta Alpha-Eastern Michigan, Zeta Epsilon-Michigan Tech, Zeta Nu-Alma, Zeta Omicron-Kettering, and Zeta Sigma-Northwood...I hope I'm not forgetting anyone) held IRD on saturday in Livonia Michigan, hosted by the Western Wayne County Alumnae Club.
I love IRD! I was a little miffed that it was in Livonia because for the past two years it's been hosted by the Detroit Northern Suburban Alumnae Club in the city right next to my hometown and it was soooo convenient for me! But anyway, now they're rotating hostesses so next year will be the Mid-Michigan Alumnae Chapter. This year, the Greek Store, Collegiate Connections, came up from Bowling Green (Ohio) and set up a couple of table with shirts, jackets, picture frame, candles, glasses, lavaliers, etc...your wallet's basic nightmare ( )...and we pretty much clean them out. Never underestimate the buying power of Alpha Gams!

So nervous!
The Los Angeles and Orange County Alumnae are celebrating IRD this year at The Grand in Long Beach. Its my first IRD since I was last an undergrad in 1996!
Yours truly will be a guest speaker this year...representing the new alumna. I'm working on my speech all this week!

Nope, sorry Katey...they weren't on the tables, they handed them out as you checked in. We got khaki hats. I thought they were kind blah at first, but it's growing on me.

Valdosta State is hosting this year's Georgia IRD. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, Gamma Tau won't be able to attend so we are having ours the next weekend.
Hope that y'all have lots of fun, Nina!!

Just out of curiousity, how many of your chapters have IRD with other chapters? I know not everyone does and it would seem kinda lonely to me.

The Birmingham Alumnae and Jr. Circle are going to either Univ. of Montavallo or Univ. of Ala at Bhm's IRD. I am planning on going to UAB's because I am familiar with many of the girls. Their IRD will be at Oak Mtn. State Park. It's a really cool park. It has a barn with farm animals. Walking and hiking trails, tennis, a small llake and any other sport imagianable. More details later, on Apr 20. Lisa

not this year ...
Here in Vancouver, IRD will be celebrated on May 5th at a local country club or facility of that sort. Unfortunately, I will be on the road, or more appropriately - on the train for it, so I will be missing it for the first time.
hmmm ... Is there any other chapters celebrating it after the april 25th or 26th ... I leave on my train trip from Indianapolis with no fixed destinations as of yet, so perhaps there might be an IRD somewhere in the States that I could attend - I'm pretty flexible!!
I'd love to be able to attend an IRD somewhere - I once attended one down in Phoenix when I was visiting the Delta Xi chapter some years ago, and it was wonderful!

I'll be celebrating 2 IRDs just like Sandy! In fact, I'll be celebrating them WITH Sandy! Woo hoo! Maui here we come! Then back to Oahu to do it all over again!
Sandy... Quit it... I am not the bomb... Don't know how much of a "bunch" we'll have in Maui... but I'm working on it!
Hey... all of you that don't get to celebrate IRD at an actual function should create your own virtual IRD... in a chatroom or something (Just make sure I get an invite... that'll make 3 IRDs for me this year. Ha!)
Loyally,
Mai Ly
