Spanx ?!
the big debate ...
While I was procrastinating last night from finals studying , I was flipping through the channels and came across the Home Shopping Channel. Normally I would have kept right on going, but the product they had on there intrigued me & so I kept watching ...
It was called SPANX & it was footless pantyhose - I had read about them before in some magazine and remember being interested, so I watched it and seriously considered ordering them, so ...
I'm just curious - has anyone else heard of them? have you or someone you know bought them? do you like them?
I'd really like to get some feedback before I break down & order some ... apparently they are available at Saks, Neimann Marcus, Nordstroms, etc ...
thanks for reading
- Jen

Re: Spanx ?!
My biological sister has bought Spanx. Apparently, they end just around the knee or below, so they offer control if you're wearing a straight skirt, for instance. But you can have the bare legs for dressy sandals -- IMO, hose and sandals are a difficult look.
Also check to see if Off Fifth, Saks' outlet, ships internationally -- I've seen some Spanx in stores here in SoCal. They cost around $10 there. I've seen them above $10 at regular dept. stores.

Hanes has an entire line of footless, toeless, etc. pantihose that you can by through their outlet catalog or at major department stores.

If you're looking for control, but want bare legs, its very simple.
1.) Buy some cheap control top pantyhose of whatever color.
2.) Get a pair of scissors.
3.) Cut the legs off.
I can't believe people are making money on that - I figured that trick out years ago.

Yeah, I bought some Spanx......some marketing genius came up with the idea that they actually could take you down up to 2 sizes!!!!!! Riiiiight.....They smooth out the bulges about as well (maybe not quite as well) as some control-top hose. Your best bet is to buy one of those panty things that looks like bicycle shorts.....they really suck you in and smooth you out, and they don't show under your clothes. The only problem is sometimes you get a dent in your thighs where the elastic squeezes you at the leg openings, but under a skirt this isn't an issue. I am really anal about bulge and/or panty lines, so I am big on these things.

My mom has them, and once when i was with her i decided to get a pair too because i was intiguied but i didnt like them because they were too tight! I know thats the point, but no thank you!

NO! NO! NO!
Get the kind that Pnguintrax is talking about!
In Canada, they're by Phantom Silks. They're called Sandal Hose and they are full pantihose but have the toes cut off (with a loop to go between your big toe and the rest of your 4 toes, which will keep them from creeping up your foot).
These things are tremendous and save your feet from the immense pain that can happen when going barefoot..... (they work best for mules, or anything with a wide strap across the part where your toes ends and your foot begins).
These things are like the greatest invention ever....just wear a band-aid between your big toe and your next toe, because they can cut in a bit, into the skin over the course of a few hours (a clear, colorless Band-Aid will do the trick).
You can buy them at The Bay and also at Danier Leather (but Danier was phasing them out). Buy them NOW, while the weather in Vancouver is still lousy, because trust me, these babies sell out FAST!
Ask the sales ladies for "the pantihose with the toes cut off"...they'll know where to look then.
I have seen Spanx, but I thought the concept looked a bit silly to me, after all, if you are barefoot, you're still in pain, because the SPANX don't cover your foot. The toeless hose help to alleviate the pain of going barefoot with dress shoes (and it doesn't look weird).
The toeless kind are AWESOME....I have stockpiled about 30 pairs, so trust me!

Maybe my mind is in the gutter, but when I saw a post titled "SPANX" I thought it was going to be about a porno mag/site.
