Scholarship!
A couple of days ago, I applied for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Beta Upsilon scholarship at my school. The guidelines were that the applicant had to create something visual to show the importance of education and submit 2 letters of rec. and a transcript. When it was time for the presentations there were three people who applied, me and 2 other girls.out of the 3, i would say that i put in the most work.however, i was also the most nervous person. You could here it in my voice and see it on my face. I really think my project was good and i worked really hard on it, but I was really nervous.Does anyone think this lost me some points. Because now I am really thinking I am not going to get it because of that. I have a 3.8 gpa, but i think my nervousness took away from this.what do you think!

Unless someone on this board is in the Beta Upsilon chapter and witnessed your presentation, I do not know how any of us can answer your question. We weren't there so we can't fairly judge.
Just because we are all AKA's does not mean that we share a psychic bond, lol.
You have to have confidence in yourself. You know in your heart how you did. Even if your oral presentation wasn't as strong, if you really did more work than anyone else than it will be clear to those judging.
Good luck with everything!

Did you ever consider that those young ladies also felt that their presentation was THE BEST?
Did you consider that maybe the young lady who received the scholarship had a 3.89, 3.9, a 4.0, or better?

they haven't announced the winner yet!my only concern is did my nervousness take away from my presentation.that's all i was asking.do you think they looked past this or do you think they would take that into consideration. i am not trying to boast or anything like that, I simply am not too confident about my presentation!

Beta Up Soror in da houuuuuse
I'm a Beta Upsilon (Dillard University of New Orleans) soror....but I'm very far removed!
I met some sorors from the chapter this weekend at Regionals.
I pm'ed you to say the same thing sorors have already recited....only the people evaluating you can really give you advice and since none of us are part of the Beta Upsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at this time.....we cannot be of any help !
Good luck... BTW...how many times did you post this? I replied to the other thread....

Chickens
Don't count your chickens before they have hatched...
The question is: Why are you nervous? Did you do the best YOU could do? Do you just have a few "butterflies" or are you ready to take some "Paxil"? Why one vs the other? And even if someone else was chosen, SO WHAT? Is it the end of the world? Can you apply the next time? And if so, how do YOU know that those other applicants did not feel similarly or reapplied constantly? The question is: What were YOUR TRUE reasons for applying for this scholarship? Because, if your true reasons were honorable and scholarly, you would have minimal reason to be nervous, but you would have congratulatory humility if someone else was chosen...
Really, does your entire life "revolve" around getting this scholarship? Because, I can imagine, if my UNDERGRAD Sorors are giving money--they really worked hard to even DONATE to GIVE a scholarship!!! And to me, if I were in your shoes, I would be merely honored that I applied and proud that group of young African American women in a Sorority were able to organized and command such a thing!!! And if it were me, I would ask how I could donate to help their cause...
disclaimer But that's just me and is independent of the ideals of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and my Sorors--but I skeriousssly doubt it...
