drum roll please
KappaStarBoy and I have been engaged since June 2001, but our wedding isn't until November 27, 2003. That would be me holding the record for the world's longest GC engagement.

Kappastargirl, I beat you for the longest running engagement, ever! My fiance and i just got engaged on xmas eve, and our wedding isn't until May 29, 2004. Yes, 2004! We are waiting for him to finish grad school and become gainfully employed.

Congrats to all of you! Weddings rock!
Art and I got "officially" engaged on August 30, 2001 and I became Mrs. Bialowas on October 20, 2001 (hee hee....exactly 5 months ago today! )
We had originally decided to get married in Summer 2003 (after postponing our original date of July 14, 2001 cause of money) but after spending the summer apart (he was in FL, me in NS) and realizing that my coming back to FL was going to cause lots of trouble (and we couldn't stand to be apart any more!), we put the wedding back on sometime in July of 2001. Art came home to visit me in August and that's when he officially proposed.....even though everything was already paid for and booked by then! LOL! It was more a formality.....he still got on his knee and everything!
Sometimes dreams really do come true....I married my soulmate and love of my life......together forever! (Can you tell I'm still in "newlywed" phase?! )

Weddings are nothing but standup funerals! Bah Humbug!
Of Course that is my humble opinion!

Nope, Maggie, I've got you beat for longest engagement! Got engaged early March '97, got married late August '99. I think we beat you out by 10 days or so.
We were in college when we got engaged, and wanted to wait for both of us to finish grad school.

Sorry ya'll, I got engaged on 12/24/2000 and will be married on 09/20/2003 to my AXiD gal. (Our 5 year anniv. of being together). We put the date waaaay out there, because I am already graduated and working, but we wanted her to finish school before we did anything. I mean, I got to have an edumicated gal to go bring home the bacon, eh?
I think I have the longest engagement.

Can I ask why you won't be taking his last name?

Let's see. I may dash it, I just haven't decided yet. I've talked to tons of my sisters who have dashed their names and they all say, it started out that way, but eventually lost their own name and took his (especially when they had kids). I may dash it, but that's the extent. I have been married before, a breif stint right at the end of my college career and took my exes name. I felt lost while getting divorced and wanted my name back so bad. My name is very important to me, it holds such tradition and honor to my family. Same reason that many men do not take their wives names. I honor and will respect my husband, but to be married it is not necessary to take his name.
I hope that explains it. And I will NEVER EVER Be: Mrs. Eric Howell. He woudln't want that either. I am Tracie Massey, I am not Mrs. Eric. Sorry, but that's a personal thing to me...not to offend anyone at all. I'm just simply stating my own personal opinion.
