Question Would like to have Sapphire Ball and Phi-Esta?

Hi ladies,

We are approaching our 15th anniversary and we will have our sapphire ball during the winter semester 2003. Well, I was told that when we have our anniversary that we do not have Phi-esta just Sapphire Ball winter semester. I want to know if other chapters do this? I really want to have phi-esta. But she's a by the book person.
Well, during summer re-treat I want to suggest to our archon that we should move phi-esta to fall 2002 and not have christmas formal(because not a lot of girls showed up for christmas formal anyway last fall). Is there a way that we as a chapter can vote on having Phi-esta as well as having Sapphire Ball?
If you ladies have any suggestions on what I could say to my archon, that would be so great.

Good Luck on Finals.

Once a Phi Sigma Sigma, Always a Phi Sigma Sigma.

Phi Esta

What is a Phi-Esta? I've never heard of such a thing. Anyway, I would put it up to vote to the chapter. I've recently learned that anything that affects the chapter should be voted on. It is not a dictatorship! So, in your next meeting, make a motion under new business.

Smile Phi-esta

Phi-esta is our date party that we have every winter semester. We each invite 2 guys and the whole sorority goes around seranaded to all the guys that we pick. The guys do not know who invited them until they get there. It's really fun.

Wink Phi Esta

That sounds like fun, but why does every sister invite 2 boys? Wouldn't that get complicated? What exactly is a serenade? (Sorry, we don't have these things out in the sticks!)

Crush Party?

Is it like a crush party? You invite a boy that you like who is your crush and then you reveal your crush to him there?

Exclamation

Hey Ladies,
Our MRC for next semester is planning to have a Phi-esta for recruitment! Usually our recruitment parties are just held in a room and we all sit around and talk. We thought it may be a little intimidating for prospectives to be sitting around, obligated to talk, with like a ton of sisters. So we're doing all kinds of fun stuff like the Phi-esta!! Bring it on!

LITP,

Rebecca

Cool Phi-esta

I went to Theta Upsilon's formal recruitment parties this year, (we don't have formal recruitment, so I wanted to see what it was all about) and one of their nights was themed "Phi-esta." They used Mexican flags, pinatas, sombreros, etc. as their decorations. Then for food they had chips and salsa, guacamole, horchata (rice water), etc. Anyways, I just thought that might help out the chapters that might be using Phi-esta for your theme night, during recruitment.

Also, another idea that I just remebered, was about the Crush Party. Epsilon Delta had a Crush Party at GameWorks. It's like a grown up version of Chuck E. Cheese... Anyway, they invited their crushes, and on their invites they wrote something like, "I have a crush on you... Look for me, I'll be wearing a red shirt with black pants." Well, when the guys got there... All the Phi Sig's had red shirts on and black pants. We're going to do something like that this fall. I can't wait!

Glitter650,
No, we are the only NPC here. There are some NPHC's, and a local, but no NPC's. And I don't think there will be any for awhile! Our school is pretty small... I like not having formal recruitment though. We can basically do whatever, whenever. We don't have restrictions on how many women we can recruit, or initiate.
What do you think? Since I really haven't been part of formal, I'm kinda ignorant to what's out there.

So Annice, your Phi-Esta is going to be like Sapphire Ball?

By the way, does anyone have like a semi formal during Fall semester?
There's a fraternity that wants to have a semi formal with us... I haven't brought it to the chapter yet (even though most of us are on here!)... But I just wanted to know if any other chapter has another dance/ball other than Sapphire Ball? And what is the general theme that you use??? Do you have it with another group??? Etc. You know, gimme all the info.

(Sorry, I kinda went way off the thread topic...)

Talking Phi-esta is...

Phi-Esta is our yearly date party, where we secretly invite 2 guys. We normally have a formal for homecoming for this semester but the fraternity that we are partnering and my sorority with does not want a formal. (but I do just not with our homecoming partners).
