Post Gotta share this with the GC'ers

So my bros and I were working a concessions stand at a local football game in order to raise money for the fraternity. I'm taking orders for hotdogs, cokes and cheeseburgers, and this guy walks up to me and says "Hey, where are you a Teke at?" (i'm wearing letters), and I say "GMU" and he tells us he's a teke from out west in town. I extend my hand, and we do the grip. It was a great moment for me personally, to just have a Teke come out of the blue, to see a kindred spirit out there.

Has anyone else ever run into another member while they were out in letters? I'd love to hear stories.

For our Valentines' Day event this year, we went on a sunset dinner cruise (with some of the TKEs I might add).

Before the dinner, our host went up to the mic to acknowledge some of the different groups on the cruise. After he introduced Alpha Gamma Delta and Tau Kappa Epsilon, we hear a middle-aged woman on the other side of the room yelling "HEY! I'M AGD! ALPHA BETA FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN!". Later, as we were all taking turns posing in pictures with her, she mentioned that her husband of 25 years is also a TKE (I can't remember which school though).

It was a fun evening...and we all left in disbelief as to how our paths crossed that night.

GMUTeke,

I graduated from Mason and one time I applied at the Bennigans at Fair Oaks Mall. Well, I put down my fraternity on my application and the manager there just so happened to be a Beta. He was a Beta Alumnus from Syracuse. So we shook hands and I was immediately welcomed aboard. That was a fun job and I was there for about a year during school. As far as wearing letters I've had random girls come up to me when I've been out. Quite a few have come up to me from various colleges and told me their dad was a beta and their very proud of it. It definitely feels awesome.

Kevin

I don't have too many personal experiences, but my friends do....

I've had two buddies of mine getting pulled over then the cop saw the sticker for Sigma Chi, pull them over, come over the loud speaker and say "In Hoc" then turn off his lights and drive away

Also we were about 6 hours north-east of here in Beckley, WV whitewater rafting the Gauley and right before we left out for the river, someone else who was there saw one of us wearing a cap and introduced himself as a sigma chi too

and we work the track the day before Derby every year for the Oaks and my buddy was wearing a cap and this guy introduced himself as Sigma Chi then gave my buddy like a $15 tip for his $2.25 ice cream

I wish I could say that I've had expierences like that... Since Phi Sigma Sigma isnt as big as some sororities, I've had people ask me if its a local! (actucally a Chi Omega asked me once!!!) But I did have a person come through my line and see my lavilier and ask me where I was a Phi Sig, and turns out she knew one of my sisters from a few years back because they were room mates!

Last month, I went to Cleveland for a big family reunion. There was over 200 people that I had never met before in my whole life. I was wearing my lavalier when a woman came up to me and said, "You're a Zeta?!" She was my 2nd cousin. I then found out that my great aunt and a couple of other extended cousins (like 4th and 5th) were all Zetas as well. We all took a big Zeta picture.

I LOVE THIS!!!!! Hands down the coolest thing I've heard in awhile. One of my DZ sisters is a police officer in Arlington, VA and I called and asked her if she'd do that if she pulled over someone with a DZ bumper sticker. Well, just remind me to never speed in Arlington

Ok...so this is kind of off topic...

One sunday of high school, I was coming back from a day at the beach/church with a buddy of mine. Just as he was dropping me off at my house, 3 cop cars pull up behind us (IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE) with lights on and the whole spiel. I was freaking out, thinking a. what the heck did we do? and b. My parents are watching this from the window and are gonna kill me!. I knew he got pulled over sometimes just for being a young kid in a 90G Benz ( I know...one of THOSE kids...I get stuck with the old volvo, folks...haha). Any way, a cop informed us that we had exceeded the speed limit by blah blah blah. I know, 3 cop cars...yeah, I live in a smaaaaall town with bored cops. Turns out he had pulled my friend over before and if he got this ticket, his liscence would be suspended. Then he shined the flash light at me and asked who I was. I responded and told him that this was my house. He told me I looked familiar. I was flashing back to all those high school parties of under age drinking that had been broken up by the cops. I was praying that he didn't remember me from one of those! He asked if I was a cheerleader at SMHS and I nervously gave an affirmation. "No, No" he said, "That's not it." "You were the homecoming queen weren't you?!" I was shocked and laughed. "Yes, sir." I explained that my friend was just trying to "get me back from church before my curfew." He looked to my friend and said, "You know, you can't afford this strike on your record, but since you're taking the Homecoming Queen home from church, I'll let you off this time. (turning to me) You're friend owes you one, my daughter has an autographed program from the Homecoming football game from you. Have a nice night." My friend definitely owed me one.

I'm one of those nerds who always takes notice of the greek letters on the back winshields of a car. whenever i see a DZ one i always honk, wave and kinda point to my back winshield so they don't think i'm too much of a nut on my way to work one day i did that and the girl followed me to work - we hugged - talked for a few minutes, exchanged numbers and now we hang out occasionally! i've met a ton of sisters from her chapter and she's met some from mine - it just goes to show that being proud and cheesy will get you friends
