Your thoughts...paying dues
An Alpha Phi friend of mine was recently at an alumnae meeting where there was a huge debate on why (or why not, as a few were arguing) to pay your alumnae dues to International.
I believe paying our dues to Alpha Phi International is extremely important, but, according to my friend, there were a few women who didn't see how paying dues benefitted them personally.
First...Have you ever come across people like this in your alum meetings?
Second...What are your thoughts on paying International dues? Do you pay them? Why or why not?
Just curious what you all thought about this topic. Hope you're all having a great week.
AOE,
Jen

I don't understand why some girls don't see the benefit of alumnae dues. I pay them because I dedicated four years of my life to Alpha Phi and I love my sorority. I want to do my part to continue the legacy of Alpha Phi and donate to our wonderful Foundation. Alpha Phi is a lifetime commitment. Plus, you get a cool membership card!

It is important we work with and educate our sisters about paying their dues to International. It definitely benifits them-the Quarterly, alum mailings, conferences, and convention sponsorship to name a few things!
Plus Alpha Phi International funds colonizations and assistance to chapters through alum dues. While individual alums may not think it benifits them personally, someday it may go to save their collegiate chapter or help their alum group!

Good posts ladies! Keep those reasons coming, so I can share them with my friend (and her alum group). Another one is...if you don't pay your dues, you can't vote in Alpha Phi International elections.

Alums paying dues...
Hello!
First off, I am a diehard A-Phi who takes her commitment to A-Phi seriously.
International dues are not that much - less than a finance charge for any credit card. Whether or not you are active or inactive, it is a duty and priviledge to be a part of any sorority and with that comes responsibility.
You are bettering the common goal of all those involved - young and old NM or alum. There shouldn't be a question either way. You made a promise and as MANY MANY MANY believe - you made a promise for life!
Enough said! And Thanks for 'listening'!

after everything that alpha phi has given to me, i think it's the least i can do to pay my dues.
i think you can even do it over the internet now which leave no excuse for not doing it.
