Good stuff, REIKI

Well, I personally do NOT think we need leadership in this day and age. I think we, now more than ever, DO have the resources, the ability, and the time, to do for self.

A "black leadership" makes us appear lazy. Like we cannot speak unless there is someone to speak for us. Like we need to be told when to be outraged, when to be active, when to be passive. I disagree. We can speak for ourselves by taking up causes that affect us-- like mentoring a young person, joining the political campaign of a candidate we support, and genuinely being good citizens.

I feel that we are progressing in a better way than we give ourselves credit for. Sure, there will always be an underclass (we are capitalist, remember) but I see more people trying to get out of the ghetto than care to admit. I wish more young people would try to "work their way to the top". But I cannot deny the ingenuity and entrepreneurial drive I have seen. Youngsters, who may not have a college degree starting their own record or clothing store. Or record label or production company. That's better than the crack game any day.

Maybe it's just me, but I see the present as far more relevant than the past. I see HOW YOU GET OUT as more important as HOW YOU GOT IN.

No leader with a 10 second sound bite can really teach a person how to get out. Lamenting the past has gotten us nowhere and has made us angrier at others than we should be with ourselves.

Leaders are not necessary if we put OURSELVES to work for our own self-improvement.

Peace.
NO, I don't. No, I am not content. Some of the things I see are disheartening. Yes, we are succumbing to racial habit and/or self hate. We are so confused as a people it's a wonder we ever really get things accomplished. I just wish people thought more positively and stop trying to knock each other down and pick one another up. I am all for the betterment of our people and wish we stood behind the leaders we have more and had more stronger leaders.

Very broad questions you have posed. Simply answered...NO. In a solution driven quest, I would be very interested in your abbreviated feedback on these issues. These issues certainly give way to major programming changes from social to political places in our community given the climate of our day.
