but while surfing greek chat i saw a signature for a Sigma Nu with love honor truth...
so of course being curious i looked up their web page nationally and the similarities kinda scared me...

to any Phi Mu go read thier creed and tell me that it does not sound STRIKINGLY similar...i read it to my roomate who is a Phi Mu too and she was like OMG they copied us...lol...
they were founded 25years after us in virginia...

anyone wanna enlighten me????
are there any sisters out there with a Sigma Nu on your campus???
hmmm they have 3 founders too...go look at the pic of the 3 of them all holding hands and tell me what u think..

I've been wondering the same thing, too!!!

Earlier last year, some Sigma Nus came to speak at one of our meetings, and they said something about their three founding principles of "love, honor, and truth"... every head in the room turned! I have wondered about it ever since.

Hey are you a Phi Mu too...

i was shocked when i read their creed!!!
it is sooooooooooooooooooo SIMILAR!!!
down to almost the same words...

example:

Sigma Nu:"TO WALK IN THE WAY OF HONOR; to exalt the fundamental virtues of the race; and, prizing every noble impulse, to realize so deeply the baseness of deceit, that no obligation will be more binding than our plighted word. To be steadfast in the performance of every trust, and, spurning the gaudy gifts of greed and power, to be content to live by our knightly vow that our honor is dearer to us than our lives; and so to esteem the man's character first, his culture second, and his pedigree not at all, unless he be worthy of it. Emulating the chivalrous deeds of courtesy, and sealing not our hearts against the touch of tenderness, to win the love and care of some incorruptible woman. And so to be loyal to the Knighthood of Honor. "

Phi Mu: "TO WALK IN THE WAY OF HONOR guarding the purity of our thoughts and deeds. Being steadfast in every duty small or large. Believing that our given word is binding. Striving to esteem the inner man above culture wealth or pedigree. Being honorable courteous, tender, thus being true to the womanhood of honor.

If you read the first and last sentence they are very much similar...as well as the fact that some parts of their creed are identicle...interesting how they were founded 25 years after Phi Mu and have 3 founders as well...founded in Virginia...

maybe they had heard of Phi Mu??? i dunno just an interesting coincidence!!

Yeah, the SN and Phi Mu creeds and ideals are very similar. I've noticed that, too. We have SN on our campus, and the brothers that I know have also noticed it. My dad is an old time SN and he mentioned it when I was initiated.
Funny.
