What do you guys think of the latest dances?
My mom had me ROFLMBO about all these new dances.....She says if they aren't trying to shake their butts off thier bodies , they're shaking and convulsing(sp)!
Around here there's the "Jospehine Johnny" people are around here grabing walls and tossing their butts in the air!
One thing I'll admit to is The Cha Cha slide! I love that dance..(The electric slide with a twist)

Girrrrrrrrrl, you haven't seen anything until you see the white people doing the Josephine Johnny. Girl, at our Christmas faculty party, (you know the younger teachers run it, right?) the "other" teachers, after they had gotten "full" wanted to get in the mix, they wanted us to teach them the dance...IT WAS A MAJOR TRIP!

JOSEPHINE JOHNNY?!!?!?!?!!?
Sounds interesting. Is this a southern thing??
LEt me tell y'all about that dang on CHA CHA SLIDE. Picture it, Christmas EVE 2000, Cleveland, Ohio, my granny's house (I LOVE the GOLDEN GIRLS): My family is sitting around playing BID WHIST and the CHA CHA SLIDE comes on the radio, my 40+ aunt and 21 year old cousin get up from the table and proceed to do the CHA CHA SLIDE!!
I was not amused.
Has anyone else seen this "BOOTY BOUNCE". I was introduced to it 2 Thanksgivings ago while home in Cleveland. It is one of the other 100 line dances out now.
Ideal08 told me Friday while we were CLOWNING on people at First Friday's that there is a VIDEO for CHA CHA SLIDE

I am sorry, yall, but I can't get with that cha-cha slide. It looks and sounds too much like "urban square dancing". I dance to express myself. Folx who do the cha-cha slide are into being ordered around the floor by some neo-fascist Sam Drucker wannabe. Sort of like this bizarre new millennium techno B.F. Skinner hoedown or somethin'. What is this, Hee Haw Hooray?
*ROTFL* O Well, to each his/her own.

Either I'm old or it's not up here in NJ and NYC. What the heck is a CHA CHA Slide and a Josephine Johnny?

Toocute,
I have heard the CHA CHA Slide at a couple of college parties up here, NJ, but I'm not a fan. They usually play it during the club music set. I have never heard of the Josephine Johnny What is it?

I like the Cha Cha slide, even my grandmother can do it. It was the only dance everybody in my family, (from my three year old cousin to my grandmother) did during Christmas. Now the Josephine Johnny is a dance that I'm tired of. I have seen guys do it and they look alright, but some girls...whew! People here have started doing the Josephine Johnny to almost any song. They even do it unconsciously (some one did it during service at my roommate's church and didn't realize it for a minute, then stopped).

ok, either the Josephine Johnny is not a southern thing, or I've been in the house too long (which is not all that far fetched)...I ain't heard of it
now the cha-cha slide is the bomb....i have all 3 parts & I do it when I can't/don't go to aerobics

The Josephine Johnny is a dance that originated in New Orleans. It's a local thing. It will make its way up North sooner or later.

Okay, so why did I think I was the only one! LOL! REVERSE/REVERSE CHRIS-CROSS...Now Charlie Brown...HEYYYYYYY!
And as far as the one's doing the "Johnny Josephine", "Josephine Johnny" (whatever the booty-dance is called), in a sactuary during service...I don't know what it is or what it looks like (probably something "Miss" Trina would be doing with Lil Kim rallying behind her with props), oohhhhh they'd better be glad Sista/Elder-Pastor Jenkins from the old-school church wasn't there..."I don said it once...I don said it twice, there'll be no dancing in the flush (yep, flush) up in here--Devil, loose them now", she'd say as she grabbed her bottle of olive oil! LOL!
Shalom~

Dang I am old, but you know what? I don't even care.
Cause I am going to start of by doing the prep with exquizit. "Set if off on the right yawl"
Then I am going to break into the snake with
AKA2D '91.
And when I get to Cleveland for the Klave this summer, me and CrimsonTide4 gonna do the tootsy role.
So that's what I think about these new dances.
Say it loud, "I'm 30 and I'm proud!"

Ok, I am LMAKAAO @ RM talkin' 'bout some "urban square dancing!" LOL! I HATE that Cha Cha Slide song. It takes no skill. HE TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO!! And the fact that it has a video is just beyond me. Kelli, there are 3 versions??? Hey, I can't even hate, he is gettin' PIZZAID!
Now being from Cleveland, which I like to call the line dance capital of the world (yall have no idea, it's a little insane, am I right CT4?), I love the line dances as much as the next person. But I'm cool with just the Trans and JB's Monorail. Some of the new ones are cute, but can't NOTHIN' touch the Trans and JB's Monorail. But yall probably don't know nothin' 'bout 'dat!

You're right...I'm totally out the loop with this thread! Monorail's and Cha, cha's. Jeez. I'm with MN...I'm going to sit here and do the snake. "One nation under a groove..."
