one of those moments

I went running today from the house where I am pet sitting, to the Lake Michigan shore about a half mile. I ran maybe for another mile north on the shore trail toward downtown Chicago. The view of the skyline and lake took my breath away. It was just one of those moments when you feel like everything is right in the world and that all will be okay.

Have you guys ever had one of these moments?

Those moments are absolutely amazing. The one that sticks out the most in my mind was when I was driving in the beautiful green California hills on the 101. The sun was shining and turning everything ahead into spun gold...I had the windows rolled down, a warm breeze was hitting me, "Promised Land" was blaring on my CD player, and I was holding my husband's hand.

All of a sudden, it just hit me. Life can't get any better than this very moment.

I'm not the type of girl to cry at the drop of a hat, but tears rolled down my cheeks that afternoon. Then I remembered that I was driving...so I snapped out of it quicker than I would have liked to.

In the late Spring, close to Summer, I always enjoyed relaxing on my parent's deck; taking in all the fresh air and listening to the peaceful sounds of the season.
I especially loved nights when it was cloudy and almost rainy, and I'd lean over the deck (which was very high off the ground) and just stare at our backyard. I loved the way the bushes around the deck smelled and I especially loved watching my dog run around.
I don't know why, but I always loved those sort of nights! I think I'm gonna miss that!

When you're looking at the Chicago skyline, all is right with the world. You know, I grew up there, but I NEVER get tired of getting on the Edens (from the Dempster Street exit) going into the city, looking at the skyline.

From the window of the classroom where I took math in fifth grade, I could see the Sears Tower on a clear day. I didn't do so well in math that year...or in any other year.

I miss Chicago. As they say in "Aladdin," it's barbaric, but hey, it's home. heehee

There are three or four major East/West streets in Denver where (when traveling West, of course), you can see a panarama of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. On a sunny day with snow caps, that view can really make you feel good. It's amazing how often you can drive those roads with your mind on other things and not even notice. That's a real shame.

I get one of those moments every time I come home!!!! Whether it's flying in and seeing Nova Scotia from the sky, or driving in and seeing my city from the top of the hill as we drive in, I get this great feeling....like "I'm home.....everything is great!"

Don't you just love those feelings?!

Thumbs up OH SO MANY!

1 when coming home from NW MO ST at night and clearing a hill and seeing the lights of Down Town Kansas City before I was kicked out!

2 Seeing the Rockies when headed West to go Skiing

3 Sitting on the Deck in the Fall for Breakfast watching the leaves change color in the river valley!

4 Standing out side after an all night Frathernity Ritual watching the Sun come up giving a true feeling of a new life and day.

ETC> ETC> ETC!

Coming back to Pullman (shcool and home for the next 3 years), pulling down trhe hill and looking around the corner of the trees until I see the clock tower.. then I know I'm home and everything will be ok for the next little while.

Pulling into my parents driveway at home and looking at the house we built (and no, I don't mean we hired someone to build, but we built it with our own hands), watching my dog Charlie realize it's me and come running, my parents see the car and come outside to see who is there.. that's home and that means everything is ok.
