Candlelights

I was just wondering what other chapters do for candlelights. Do you all have a specia song you sing? I'd love to hear stories about other chapters' candlelights.

Courtney

Nope this is not ritual. My chapter does not sing anything. We just pass the candle around until the person who called the candlelight blows it out.

We did a candle song, I can't remember the name, but it went "it is better to light just one little candle then to stumble in the dark, take this light that we offer, tri sigma's candle, let it be your guiding spark"

The sond you're refering to is "One Little Candle". We sang it for prefs in 2005.

My chapter does candlelights and we usually sing "Pass it On".

We sang a different song, part of it goes:

Just pin on me, (just pin on me), until I die, (until I die), Triangle badge, (Triangle badge), of Sigma-Tri, (of Sigma-Tri), and when I go, (and when I go), up in the sky, up in the sky), they'll say come in, (they'll say come in) oh Sigma-Tri, (oh Sigma-Tri).

The parts in parentheses are softer and kind of an echo. There's more to it, but we just pass the candle around calling out different stages, Sisterhood, lavalier, pin (which we all hoot and holler for, even though no one ever get pinned), and engagement.

We had one Candlelight where the boyfriend told our president about it and he came in and blew the candle out when it got to his girlfriend and surprised her there with a lavalier. All his fraternity brothers were there, and they all got on their knees around the two and sang their sweetheart song. That was my freshmen year (I've since been graduated for 2 years) and it's still one of the coolest things I've seen.

We had one similar to that. The entire chapter was outside and the girls boyfriend was hinding in the bushes. When it got to her the two girls on either side of her blew the candle out for her and when she turned around there he was. It was great...she was crying...we were clapping.

I can't remember what song we sang first, but the third time around we used to sing "Going to the chapel." At least that is what we sang for mine!

Does anyone have the words for "In the Light?" My chapter wants to sing that this year at pref, but we don't have the words!
