Question for the guys??
Tell me what yall think about this...I know this guy and let's just say he belongs to XYZ frat. OK, now I realize that he is really proud of his frat, but EVERYTHING he owns has the letters on it!! He's got it all: the car sticker, the thing that goes around the license plate, the flask, the shotglasses, the wallet, the checkbook cover, the screensaver...EVERYTHING!!! I'm just wondering...is this normal? I know girls wear their letters on everything, but do all of you guys do this too? I guess this was the first time I noticed a guy having his letters on practically every item he owns...not that there's anything wrong with that. I just thought it was, ya know, interesting. Although I have to say I do admire his greek pride!!

Hello CallahLily,
Well I can't speak for everyone, but I believe theres nothing wrong with that all. Everyone takes initiation differently. I know when I got initiated you couldn't find me in anything but my Harvard Red, and Old Gold colors. I even had pajammas...said to say. I love my fraternity, so I believe he's just the same way. I dont think you have to start worrying just yet....wait to see if he only drinks things that remind him of his colors..for me I stuck with Cherry Red koolaid and Mango Lemonade WOW talk about out of it. But it was a phase...well atleast that part I still wear everything. Hope this helps!

I think its pretty normal
Usually when a person is just innitiated, especially guys (who i hear have a more "interesting" pledge period) they are so filled with the pride of finally "earning" their letter, etc.. well that would make them want to "share with the world" that they are an XYZ..also most GLO's are huge nationwide..so the prospect of meeting someone who shares the same bond as you, is kinda exciting
so yeah guys or girls, are very likely to sport thier letters wherever they want..

I've been meaning to buy a license plate cover and sticker for the window
For me, after I was initiated I got really into buying memorabilia. You should see my room -- a stack of old manuals, song books, etc., engravings hanging on the wall, an old oil painting on the wall, a convention photograph from 1884 there with my chapter and pledge class group pictures. Yeah, I buy a lot of stuff

Well as soon as I got in I went through a phase where everything was Sig Tau. I have three different sweatshirts, some long sleeved t-shirts, convention shirts, a flask, the shotglasses, a windbreaker, the beer mugs, window stickers, license plates...it goes on forever. I even changed my email and my IM name. Little less crazy about it now, but I always wear my necklace and windbreaker...

While I have been out of college since 1967, I can only wear my Badge on certain ocasions, the chapter is working on getting polo (golf) type shirts with our colors on them. I have all ready ordered 4. I also just got a personallized tag of LXA 1. Yes, I love and care for my Fraternity and always will!
I wish, I still had some shirts of the local I started BX, but I do have the one of only 2 sets of the Badge and pledge button.
There is nothing wrong to be proud of something you are proud to be a member of. I know that when you become a LXA, you are a member for life and I am!!

I don't see anything wrong with that. Matter of fact I'm going to order some hand-cuffs with ALPHA PHI OMEGA inprinted on it!

SH80, do you purposely try to be shocking and rude, or is it some sort of disorder? Either way, some things are better left unsaid, unless you are in that type of forum.

Just by reading your post I feel provoked.
Anyways, my above post was light-hearted. Like I'll ever use the handcuffs.

tatianna, I just picked the name Beta Chi as it was easy to recognize for 2 letters. Blue and white the colors as they are my favorite combonations. The Crest had hands for brotherhood, a lamp for knowledge, a rising sun for something new, and crossed sabres to protect our ideals.
I found out after I designed the Coat of Arms as we were going through colonization for LXA that the sash across the sheild was backwards! Does not sound like much but in herealdity, that was the sign of the Bastard Son of of the Family!
Well I guess that it actually fit as @ 1/2 of the new guys were from other Houses on campus that had been booted.
I always found that a HOOT!!
I have been a LXA since 1966 and am very proud.
There is No Beta Chi in the NIC even thought in moment of of of of ?????? gave thought of trying to start a National of BX.

When I was a junior in college I had one friend in particular who became a member of an NPHC fraternity.
I (and everyone) knew when he had crossed because he always had something with his letters on it. Sometimes entire ensembles. Talk about pride ! But it was really obvious that earning his letters meant a lot to him.
