Rush the Same Fraternity Next Semester?
So last semester I rushed two fraternities. The one fraternity I rushed I immediately put as my number one choice. The first day of rush, all of the brothers were friendly, nice, and seemed like we all had something in common. As the days went on during rush, I would meet the same brothers and not only did they remember my face but my name as well. This was a very big compliment for me. We would discuss what they enjoyed doing as a fraternity, and outside of Greek life. They knew one of my skills and told me that if they were to give me a bid that I would be able to help them do this. My interview went great. It seemed like I killed it.
As the days went on it was time for the last day, where they were telling the rushees in person who was in and who was not. Finally my name was called and I was brought into a room with a lot of the guys from the fraternity that I had befriended. The rush chair told me: "First of all we would all like to thank you for rushing, but unfortunately we are unable to offer you a bid. I am very sorry to tell you this. However I encourage you to rush again next semester." No surprise but my heart sank. I manned up as I got up, shook everyone's hand and thanked them for a great week.
After a night of depression, I decided to text one of the brothers who was informing me of the times and addresses for the rush events out of curtousy. I told him: "Even though I didnt get in I want to thank you for the opprotunity to meet you guys. You all are awesome, I wish you guys nothing but the best and hopefully we can all hang out like this past week." A few minutes later he texted back saying: "Absolutely man! You should rush next semester and see if there is a different outcome. A lot of the guys liked you, we just didnt have enough votes and bids to give out."
I still see some of the guys often and their attitudes are just the same as while I was rushing. All friendly and even stopping for a few minutes to catch up. So my question is should I take their advice and re rush them next semester or look towards a different fraternity? And what might have been some possible reasons of not receiving a bid. (They informed me that for spring they do not take as much people as the fall). Your comments are most appreciated. Thank you!
