Post Invictus

This is a question to the NPHC members. I'm sure you have all either heard of or know the poem Invictus. I've heard it recited at every probate I've been to and have found it to be a very powerful poem. My question is, how do you feel about the way the media has portrayed the poem with the recent execution if Tim McVeigh and how do you think people will feel now that some may associate it with McVeigh. It seems to me that the media is trying to put it out there as some sort of poem about death or killing my only quoting the line "my head is bloody, but unbowed" instead of showing the whole thing and people would see that it isn't about death or killing, but about courage and determination. I was just wondering what some of the feeling were among some NPHC members.

On CNN.com, there was a Lit. Professor who gave an excellent analysis of this poem. I'm not sure if it's still up or not, but basically, she said the same thing you did, that it is misleading to use those two lines to try and understand it.
