Just a question
Ok I am going to ZTA's rush this week but they and DZ are the only sororities rushing in the spring as you may have already read from ZetaLuvBunny's posts earlier, anyways I don't know what I should do..I was planning on waiting till fall to rush so that I would get the whole experience and get to know all the sororities and all, but what if I really like Zeta?!! Should I still wait and go to the other sororites too just to make sure thats where I want to be or should I pledge if they do want me??!! AHHH confusing I mean if they do like me and I decide to go ahead with fall rush and end up realizing then that I really do wanna be a Zeta then do you think it will change what they think about me??!! goodness Im soo confused!! any help is much appriciated!! Thank you so much guys!

Do you have money to pay new member fees and dues? You might want to take that into consideration. Some people save up for that.

I might be biased but......
I say go through informal rush and see what happens. If you really like ZTA and can totally see yourself there then go for it! But, if you feel that there might be another sorority that you can see yourself in then wait to formal rush.

I just wanted to say that I am pledging DZ right now and I have never been so happy I believe that this is where I am meant to be. It might be different for you but it won't hurt to try. Good luck in your decision.

Sparkling--
Make the decision that is right for you sweetie. I know girls who went to a sorority because they thought they really liked it and what not, and ended up totally regretting not going through formal recruitment and seeing all that there is to offer in greek life. On the other hand, I know others who went through formal recruitment and ended up hating or loving where they ended up. It's a hard choice to make, but if you have any doubts, I would wait until the fall to rush. If ZTA loves you now, they will understand your waiting to see what's out there. This is after all a lifelong commitment which shouldn't be taken lightly. And once you're initiated, you can't go to another sorority if you don't like it.
I wish you the best...but remember, do what's best for you!

okay...all i have to say is that if zta doesn't want you only because you waited to rush, i personally don't think you should want to be a part of their organization. i agree that if they want you now, they should still want you later i personally think you should wait, it is a lifelong decision and you need to be completely sure that is what you want to do. i have seen too many people rush into it head first and then eventually dropping out only to wait until the next year and pledge a different sorority( one they decided would be best for them) good luck!!

Maybe it would be good to consider the acceptance rate of "older" students. Is it harder for an older student to pledge?
I'm sure you've read enough about the different schools and how in some places Freshmen have a better chance than Sophomores or Juniors. Just a thought. Best of luck in your decision!!!
I had to add this-I didn't know beans about anything when I went through formal rush at Uof H (not a competative system back then) I probably would not have pledged a sorority if I had waited as I lived in the quad and Greek sentiment was slightly negative. Also, my true blue friends were not in sororities. It wouldn't have drastically changed my life or I may have pledged something different, I'll never know. You understand a lot more about Greek life than I did so whatever you decide to do, have confidence in your decision. You are in a knowledgeable position and that gives you an avantage. I know you will make the best choice for you!

As far as I have seen there is no trouble rushing if you are older. I am a junior and I am now rushing DZ. I don't really think that it matters how old you are but if they think you will make a great sister. Good luck in making up your mind.

You have nothing to lose by going to informal rush. If you totally fall in love with Zeta and they bid you, you will have found your home that much sooner - and you don't have to deal with the stress of going through formal rush If not, you can always go through formal rush next fall.
Check out DZ too, unless you already know you can't see yourself there.
