Need help!

Okay GCers I need your help. I know I should have posted this in philanthropy forum but I thought more people would read it in this forum. My sorority needs new ideas for our annual philanthropy event. We use to do a fraternity man beauty pageant but we were told by our field consultant we couldn't do anymore because it got a little rowdy and boys did anything (and I mean anything!) to win. So, we are at a loss for a really good philanthropy idea. We need something that will attract lots of people, greek and non-greeks and something fun to do and watch. Our last one was so popular and we really need something to follow it that is just as good. Please give ideas, even if you don't think they are the greatest. The time to decide is coming up really soon! Thanks so much for helping us out!

My chapter does a paintball tournement, they also had a domino tournement (more popular in Texas probably then anywhere else)
When I was there we had a golf tournement.

We put on Delta Bowl, a flag footbal tournament, which is really popular with the guys, it's right IFC football and it's a glimpse of who will win that. The girls break up into groups to cheer different fraternities on with signs, etc. We also do a raffle and get prizes from the businesses in the area, along with the BBQ and D.J., it's a fun time.....

We just had an athlete auction where we got as many of the University's athletes (male and female) as we could to participate and be auctioned off. They were auctioned off as dates to a dance we were holding the next week as a benefit for the AIDS Foundation (our Philanthropy). Well since this was our first time trying this, we didn't know what to expect....but we ended up making $1,177 for the AIDS Foundation just at the auction, plus several hundred more from tickets sales for the dance! The athletes were all let into the dance free, dates still had to buy tickets. Our top bid was $100! We had a local DJ and another local well-known personality (one male, one female) as the auctioneers. This fundraiser was awesome because we had to put no money into it whatsoever (we even got the poster printing donated) , just our time and patience in getting everyone to cooperate.

Not bad for a brand new Sorority on campus, eh?

Well the philanthropy we are doing this year is we organized a huge concert at a local venue with some great local and regional bands. We are selling tickets for $15 a piece and explaining that proceeds go to our charity "the childrens miracle network" I'm not sure if that helps or gives you any ideas but it looks like its going to be big!!!!

I have had this idea for a little while. I don't know how big ultimate frisbee is at your campus, but you could have an ultimate frisbee tournament or perhaps a frisbee golf one (Delta - disk...I dunno, you probably could come up with some slogan off of that)

Thanks everyone for all the ideas, I will definitely bring them up at chapter next Monday. You all had some very creative ideas. I really liked the fraternity football tournament idea (thanks to my sister Bri3D!) and especially making it a co-ed tournament. I liked the slave auction idea but SAE does something like that and the lip syncing thing wouldn't work because we have Spring Sing each year and it's too similar. But thanks for all the ideas, they have really helped a lot and if you have anymore, keep them coming.

P.S. Betarulz!, I have to tell you I love the Betas at my school. Practically all of my guy friends are Betas. Some of the nicest, most gentlemenly (?), and geninue people I know!! Just thought you would like to know you are well represented!

We do Jacks at Bat, some schools call it Frats at Bat, but its a double ellimination softball tourney for frats and this year we opened it up to girls, clubs, and alum. We had at least one team from most orgs, more from others and sometimes an alum team fromt the frats. The guys get way into it and they practice before the tournement.
