LSU transfer

Okay, so I am transferring to LSU next fall. I rushed at my current university but didn't initiate because LSU doesn't have it. I'm considering rerushing at LSU as a sophomore. I am a triple legacy to chi o, but I'm not sure if they are good at LSU or if legacies even matter there. Should I even waste my time rushing? I know that at some school rushing as a sophomore is nearly impossible but at others they have a sophomore quota. Also will being from a rival school hurt my chances? I am from the south, very involved on campus, and grades are very important to me. I just don't want to go in thinking that I'll get something and then go bidless! Sorry this is all over the place, I just have so many questions! Thank you to everyone in advance!

I think you need the "other" website. We don't rank greek orgs. on this website. We provide real, factual information.

That being said: If you transfer and you don't rush you will not become a member of a sorority at LSU. Is it worth the risk? Only you can decide.

Oh okay... I'm really sorry! I've never used this site before. I was just trying to get some advice. I can definitely take this somewhere else! Thank you!

I gather that you accepted a bid at your current school but have since resigned during your new member period.

As a sophomore transfer, you will be fortunate to get invitations from ANY sorority. As for a sophomore quota, that is OPTIONAL. A sorority can choose to issue bids to whomever they want to.

Also, check Chi O's legacy policy. They have the most strict policy of any NPC. You may not really be a triple legacy even though you have three relatives that are Chi O.

A Chi Omega legacy is a sister or daughter of a Chi Omega in good standing.

I wouldn't worry about trying to determine if ChiO is "good" at LSU until you get there and meet some of the sisters and find out what they are about. Then decide for yourself if they are a group you could see being a part of.

My daughter went through recruitment at Mizzou as a sophomore transfer. Did her sophomore transfer status hurt her? I believe it did. She was cut heavily during the process, however still made it to 2 preference parties and was extended a bid to a house she is very happy to be a part of.

You never know until you try. Put your best foot forward. If it doesn't work out, don't take it personally.

MIZZOU and LSU are apples and oranges, it's not a great comparison.

A lot of personal details in this thread

I know the large southern schools are more competitive. However, my point is still she will not know unless she gives it a try. Unless sophomore transfers are for sure a no-go. I am not that familiar with LSU specifically.

LSU is known for being a tough recruitment. These two threads are old but may form a starting point for you:

My daughter said that there were always a few sophomores in her sororities pledge classes. It is not impossible for sophomores to get bids, I even know a Jr. who did. LSU recruitment is tough but I do not think it is on the same level as some of the other SEC schools. I only know of one girl who went was completely cut from all sororities, even her legacy. But I was not surprised as she was not a very nice girl in High School and also hung with the stoner crew. If you have recs and are open to every sorority you should be able to find a home. And as stated above, you will never know if you don't try.
